Here is my idea for my new suspension setup...

I just bought some new wheels that are 18x8.8 and 18x9.5 and I need to lower my car. It is also fortunate timing, because my car is in great need of shocks/struts. My idea is, I will buy sportline shocks/struts and a Vogtland lowering spring kit. It seems like a good setup. What do you guys think? Good deal or go with Bilstein or H&R?

Ummmm.. where do you plan on putting 9.5" wheels on a lowered, non 500E500? In the trunk?

Rampant newbism these days.

Do you think it might work with thick spring pads? He already bought the wheels.

Ok. [sarcasm] sure it'll fit, go ahead and spend the money on new suspension! It will be awesome, I bet you are sure glad you researched the hell out of it before you bought your wheels, I know I would be. Well done! Don't sell those wheels and buy 18x8 et35 with 215 or 225 rubber, that would be dumb.

[/sarcasm]

I guess I can live without it lowered. By the way. I talked to a guy at StarTech (the benz shop near my house) and he has the same size wheels on his car.

Ok stop you are too easy haha....yeah a V8 is the same as an inline 6.

Ok ok, I know you were referring to the body....couldnt resist. Did ******** lower his 400E? Does he REALLY have 9.5's or is he simply tea-bagging you to get you to buy the wheels....careful there, tea-bags are embarassing, from what my ex-gf's say.

I had a white 400E before this one, then it got killed by a hail storm when I was out of town (never say it coming ) And yes, he has them, not lowered. And I bought them from somewhere else, he could care less.

OK, I GUARANTEE he'll have rubbing issues even without lowering it. That means you will too. Sell the rims and buy the proper size for your car... 18x8 Et35 will work on a SLAMMED w124, my car is living proof.

LOL. Considering our cars came with 15x6.5, yeah they look wide. Slim or not, thats what fits on our cars. You want wide, buy a muscle car or a post 95 benz.

WTF, are you trying to build a F1 car or something? Unless you're building a high performance monster or something you'll tow to wherever you're going 9" wide rims are excessive. 8" is already pushing the limits.

What about 8.5? Welllllll 8.5 is half an inch wider than 8.0. It MAY fit if you roll the fenders, find a perfect offset and get the right tire size. Still is best to go 18x8.

400E420 is the same as 300E320 in terms of sheet metal and ability to fit rims.

ok, well on the web site, here is the listing of all the car models it will fit:

"400E SE, SEL 92-93 / 500SE SEC SEL 90-93 / 600SEL, SEC, 92-93 / C36 95-97 / C43 98-00 / C220 94-00 / C280 94-00 / CL500 98-05 / CL600 98-05 / CLK320, 98-05 / CLK430 99-03 / CLK55 01-05 / E280 94 / E320 94-03 / E420 94-97 / E500 94 / E300 96-00 / E430 98 / E500 03-05 / S320 94-00 / S350 94-95 / S420 94-99 / S430 00-05 / S500 94-00 / S600 94-99 / SLK230 99-05 / SLK320 01-05 / SLK32 02-05 / SLK350 05 /"

I know mine is not on there, but the reason I bought them was because I had a 400E and it was the same body as the 300E, so I thought they would fit.

what site? if its ebay or anything like that, you might as well have your grandma buy you wheels...she knows as much as most of those sellers. numbers dont lie. 18x9.5 wont fit. period, end of discussion

18x8, ET 35 225/40/R18's. Can we just put a sticky at the top of this forum with this post? Good gracious I feel like all we talk about is the same crap.

I don't mean to be harsh dude, I was there at one point. But I used the search feature and did research.
