87 300tdt stock radio ipod input

Hey Guys,
Im wondering if its possible to add a aux input into the stock headunit inmy 87 300 tdt, perhaps by wiring into the tape deck? has anyone done this?
I have taken apart several W163 and W202 radios and wired in a aux connection and the sound quatlity was great, but never in a w124.

Please note I am not looking to change the head unit or the speakers, i want to keep it stock.

Thanks!!!

IPOD/IPAQ aux in mod Becker factory radio

The quick and inexpensive way is the FM modulator as mentioned above, or the cassette adapter from radio shack. I used the cassette adapter for a while, but the sound is limited to the frequency response of the cassette head (or tuner with the modulator), which is a bad thing for most people.

Becker of North America will retrofit the radio and hard wire an aux input to it. That means the the signal from your IPOD/IPAQ goes direct to the amps, and not distorted through the tuner or cassette head. It costs $100 plus $10 shipping. You have to send it to them, and turn around seems to be two weeks. beckerautosound.com.

I just got my Becker 1492 back from them for my E300. The aux in upgrade works great, and they also repaired two broken buttons. I pulled the aux input lead into the console box, so I can plug in my IPAQ and close the cover and it's out of sight.

I took it back out to clean the tape head and rollers, and I will see if I can partially dissasemble it to see where the wires were soldered into the boards. With just the top access panel off, you can't see where they go. I'll take some pics as well. Dave
