hi everyone. i bought a 1997 E250 diesel 6 weeks ago. i wanted to put some diesel in it today but couldn't open the flap, just inside the left side of the actual flap rectangle i could see a small silver pin locking it, i cant find a lever anywhere in the cab. i put some fuel in there the day i got it and i think it just opened by push, i checked the owners manual and it only mentions the tank flap under "manually opening the tank flap" where it instructs me to peel the lining inside the right-hand-side of the boot and find a lever to open the flap. (also phoned previous owner to no avail)
this cant be the standard procedure? does it normally just open via push and just locked itself somehow? i would appreciate any help on this question, or even links to info on the model.
You can reach back behind the trunk liner and manually pull the lock. There is a rod with an end on it for this purpose. You will pull straight back.
excellent, its 01:51am here so will do that in morn, can i expect this to occur regularly? it's not a major hassle but if avoidable at all t'would be nice, thanks for the tip.
i've been having doubts to tell ya the truth man. thats what it was advertised as, and then it says '98 as date of first registration on the documents i got with it but this doesn't really correspond to the research i've been doing online, im not really finding matching information or pictures.
the w124 became the w210 in 1996 apparently but all them seem to start at the e320, and all seem to be of the rounder evolution design. i cant find my baby in either camp

This happened to my 1990 W124. Just grease up the latch pin and it will never happen again.
make sure your car is 'unlocked', that happened to me when i first bought my car and i was stumped! I pulled the door lock pin up on the driver's side, went to open the flap, and it was locked. i unlocked the car with the key, and then i was able to open it. the fuel door locks when the car is locked.
