Yes, but the upholstery pattern is waaayyy different (multi vertical lines on 1986-1989, fewer horizontal lines from 90-95.
You'd need to do the back seat too if you want it to look right.
Your seats: (1986-1989)
Newer seats: (1990-1995 excluding wagon)

Before you dive in, make sure the plugs are the same too. I seem to remember selling a pair of newer w126 seats to an owner of an 84 w126 and the plug ends were different, and I don't recall the design shift date.

off topic but does anyone think the mb tex seats are more comfortable than the leather late 124 model ones like pictured in the cabrio? I find my leather ones a little stiff compared to when I had my 90 sedan

Try cleaning and using leather conditioners. Leather can get dry and hard, but once softened it is more supportive than MB Tex. I love my leather seats.
