Hey all,

I've been considering a 500E as a semi daily driver. Anything to look out for? How is maintenance on these things? I'd probably be putting less than 5k miles per year on it. Does anyone know of any for sale? Looking for a nice driver not a garage queen.

Thanks

Henry

engine harnesses are most common for failing.

There will always be problems. Rubber ages, even metal wears. The trouble components are the wiring harness (as Sunil points out) but the Throttle Body wiring can also fail. They are well built vehicles though and the annual repair bill is pretty mild.

Sounds good. So a 100k+ car should not be something to worry too much about?

Barring someone pouring sugar in at some point your good for at least another 100,000. I'd be surprised if the engine needed work before 250,000. The other components will be the ones showing use. Wear on the seats wouldn't be unexpected around the bolsters. The clear coat on the wood might have cracked in the heat.

It wouldn't be an issue.
