what kind of gas do you treat your benz to?
I always wondered what would happen if you put regular or midgrade.
i always use premium 91 octane here

as far as gas.... to be honest ive switched a few times between premium 91 octane and mid grade 87 octane... in both my c320 and e320. in all honesty i have not noticed much of a difference in mpg. each tank i also add a bottle of chevron fuel additive.

regular oil. my car is still consuming oil. i add a quart about once a month.

id say that fuel system cleaner in each tank is a little bit over kill. but to each their own.
Someone told me it wasnt good for it, but I don't think it matters..does it?
Pre-ignition, detonation, ping - same thing and very bad. Higher octane fuel has a slower burn envelope when ignited. The effect helps prevents ping or the fuel/air mix burning before the crank has advanced to the proper fire point. Premium is a must for any higher compression engine.
Basically, the low grade fuel explosion may occur early (fast burn) where downward force hammers the piston as it rises before it has reached the point in the stroke where it should go down. It makes a clattering sound usually under load like a hill or accelerating. Often mis-read as "valve noise".
Worth killing the engine? The new MINI Cooper requires premium. Posts on a fan site discuss destroying engines running cheap fuel. But they saved money.
honestly, its actually saving money in the long run. 10 dollars extra on gas? or have to a buy a new car in a few years...
worse then buying that new car...
knowing you ruined an old mercs engine
