Engine wiring harness
Engine wiring harness
Does anyone have an engine wiring harness #124-440-56-32 lying around spare that is for sale. My E320 needs a new one. Fuel mileage went south and idling is rough. Wiring harness is badly deteriorated. Dealer wants $870.00 plus 9% tax. Ouch.
Yikes! $799

If mine goes I think I'll try to make one or yank the new one off your car.

I had replaced a engine wiring harness on 95 E420 for $400 few years back. I got mine from www.mercedesshop.com

Here's another source - $853
The engine wiring harness for the E420 is completely different from the E320 - apples and oranges.
I'm not aware of any low cost source for the 94 E320 engine wiring harness. As far as I know the price in this link is as good as any.

I have a 93 300e 4matic, how would i know if its time to replace my harness. Also i had a wire short int he engine bay and tracked it to a wire under the fuse box. And in a bundle of wire was like grey silly putty stuff. Is that normal form the factory?
jmoney6, here is a link for some reading on the subject. There should be pictures of what this problem looks like.

The gray putty probably indicates that the cheap-*** previous owner saw bare wires and put a "band-aid" on the situation, leaving you to deal with it properly.

Best of luck in your hunt.
Might sound crazy but has anyone tried repairing there own? Obviously the wires aren't in bad shape all the way back, so i was just wondering if someone ever had the time or the urge to try to fix an old harness. I have nothing but time this winter to give it a try so i was just curious if it was even worth the effort.
I've heard reports from others who replaced the wires on a bench, one at a time, until the whole engine wiring harness was refreshed. If you go this route, you'll need wire where the insulation can resist underhood temperatures. They aren't that commonly available over the counter, but can be ordered over the internet. And obviously, you'll need to match the wire gauge.
