well it turned out good and works great as well... little grinding here and there and it went right in..
i just put the alarm today too with the kill switch open close doors wich i wanted for a long time lol no more using the damm key... and it has this feature that if you forget the doors open after 15 seconds doors will lock automatic. And also while your driving as soon as you hit the breaks the doors lock

and thx federico for the 2 keys bro

You do not want stainless keys. The keys are brass because they are intended to wear down... disposable. This is because the tumblers in the ignition and doors are much harder to replace than a new key...hence softer brass than the metal used in tumblers.

I would stick with brass or be ready to replace your door locks and ignition tumbler down the road.

hmm... i'm not saying your information is misleading but i have e mailed Rik (2phast) about this matter some times ago.. he said that.. "The blank keys are brass and they will chip when you put them in the ignition, over time, these chips will clog the lock cylinders. That is why you should only use solid stainless steel keys and that is why I cut a original key down to fit." both make sense..hmmm.. time to do more digging!

Brass will clog the tumblers? this is a first for me, considering mercedes has been using brass keys for decades, and not stainless... I have never heard of brass chipping, only wearing down, which it is intended to do. I RARELY ever say that I am more correct than someone on any given subject, but I am going to have to stand up for this one and say that I am right. Brass keys ftw.

Ive actually heard of people having to change there locks because of this. Very rare problem, but does happen.

I don't know where your getting your information, but MB keys for the last 20 years at least have all been stainless steel. Brass keys will wear down by inserting them in/out of the cylinders, eventually, the tumblers get clogged with the brass shavings.

Any experienced MB technican should be able to verify this for you, as they are the ones who end up replacing all of the cylinders.

Berti did exactly what he should of, which was to get original MB stainless steel keys and cut them down to fit the flip key remotes.

I worked at a Benz shop for 5 years for a few summers between school... and I replaced almost a dozen ignition tumblers, or door locks because of worn out parts due to what I was told to be from steel keys and the logic still makes sense. If your key is tougher material than the tumbler then the tumbler will wear out first. As far as filings are concerned, we used to always clean all the locks etc with lubricant that would flush away such material.

Most of the cars we serviced at that time were 80's and older, so maybe MB changed in the late 80's and 90's. All the keys I handled from the supplier were always chrome plated brass... that is where I get my info.

Most people here are not going to own their cars for another 30 years, so this probably won't even make that big a difference anyways.
