Wrong forum. Ask the question in the W210 E-Class section.

Your '99 E is a W210, try the correct forum, it usually works much better.

I'm in the process of dooing this sometime soon. The plastic part that holds a regular din size deck should be cut off, so once you do this there is no going back, and since the whole part on the 124 is slanted downward a bit, some plastic trimming and carving should be donw to properly fit the double din, also good luck getting the trim surrond to match...

Its a big job. I have it in my cabrio. Lots of plastic cutting. There's a control unit thats just behind the ashtray that needs to have it's wire extended any relocated. And then some metal cutting to get the unit as far back as what sunman has it. The trim panel he has is ideal for unit that don't have a flip down face and let you slide a disk in like a regular cd unit does. I'm remaking my trim piece for the 3rd time and if I'm end up doing it a 4th time it'll be in aluminum, because of how thin the material gets at the bottom corners where the deck and the sides of the console are.
Sorry I don't have any good pics at the moment, the cars off having engine mods done.
