87 300E Auto to 5-speed swap?
I have found a local 300E 5speed transmission. I was wondering if it was possible to swap out my auto and put in the 5speed. And if it is possible how much would it cost.

1987 AMG 3.2 (5spd manuel), 1981 240D (4spd manuel)
I have recently done this to my 1987 300E. I have. 3.2 AMG with the M103. I did it in just a day. First you need the drive shaft from the 5spd if you don't have it your out of luck! Everything will bolt up right but you will have two wiring issues 1st the neutral safty switch. 2nd the back up lights. You will also need to get the woodgrain center piece about $150 (USdollar)new. And a rubber boot. I can help any way I can. Last you will need a new clutch hard to find and expencive it cost me $450(USdollar) and flywheel turned. You will also cut the pre preferated line for the clutch from the brake fluid box. And you will also need the clutch/break pedel assembly. If you get all thoes it will be smooth saling. I did mine as well. I thought of doing a write-up but realized that someone had done it before and published it at the following link. http://www.club124.net/performance-upgrades.html The two main take-aways from my own project are: (a) if you change the differential as well, make sure you also find a matching speedometer. Otherwise, the speedo reading will be inaccurate, and casually buying any instrument cluster off eBay claiming to fit would be a waste of money and time. (b) the clutch travel distance of the factory pedals is too long and is almost unable to adjust.
