careful of the airbag when you're taking your current steering wheel off dude. You don't want that going off in your face!

You best bet before anything is to disconect the battery to be on the safe size.

your current wheel I think uses an allen key to unscrew the airbag module first. Not sure what size allen key thogh, sorry.

Hey Bert, why did you choose the Grant steering wheel out of curiousity?

Since you got some JDM blood on your car - I would of gotten a wood Nardi steering wheel.

What, sayjin?? I would much rather NOT have an 18yr old (my case, 17yr old your case and 20 yr old, berti's case) airbag going off in my face. NO WAY JOSE. You are supposed to replace them every 8 yrs. Did YOU? PS first generation bags hurt more than helped in MANY cases.

I thank upstairs that nothing has happened to me but I am NO more safe without my airbag...

JDM meaning your WALD kit.

Looks good though. My friend has a Grant wheel in his 944 Turbo and it's pretty nice.

Yeah... My airbag didn't even deploy in my accident with my old 300E when it technically should of.

No, I have not replaced mine, I dont have the money to do so I dont know, I feel like the engineers put them there for a reason, and as such, not having one makes me feel a bit uneasy.

Dont feel bad, 99% of us do not replace our airbags..not saying it IS dangerous to have one, they DO save lives, it's just that it's not like ours are brand new, flawless 2nd gens that WILL operate as intended...

I'll just get a 5 Point harness whenever I decide to put in a aftermarket steering wheel.

Is it easy to mount the 5-point harness in the w124?

Anything is possible - I don't see how it'll be an issue mounting an harness in our cars.

That'll be pretty sick - A willians harness in a W124 with Recaro seats FTW.

I think it would be a PITA to mount one of those things in a 124... If I'm not mistaken, you have to mount the shoulder straps within certain number of inches of your shoulder height... think about it, if you crash and your body flies forward, if the shoulder straps are attached to the floor behind the seat, your back will arch backwards and could very easily break your back.

That's why most 5-poiint harnesses are attached to roll bars that have cross members that run at shoulder height behind the seat.... Unless I'm completely missing something here.

They might make seats that are structurally sound enough to mount the shoulder straps directly to the seat. But I wouldn't do it!

and IMO, I would rather have my face hit an airbag than my steering wheel... even if the airbag is oldy moldy and a bit firm by today's standards.

Face full of dust + the chance of it not even working and you still hitting the wheel FTL.

I have a 93-95 steering wheel with burlwood that I would sell, I don't like the feel of any wood in my hands other than my own
