Well, I had an original AMG ducktail and no one wanted to sell me the end caps. The dealer wanted 250 for each end cap and erebuni didn't want to sell them with out the spoiler. SOOOOOOO this is what I did but i'm not finished. I'm going to modify it a little more before paint. I wanted to go for a bmw look but i'm actually going to cut half of it off and re shape it.

Well, it's kinda harder to do it on yours because mine is made of urethane foam so I can shave it and mold it how ever I want. With fiberglass you will need some resin and a lot of time. Don't get any on your skin either so wear long sleeve shirts and gloves. You can mount the spoiler with some of this...

I haven't seen any write up and the AMG paper I had didn't really say much. The glue I got with the kit was all dried up and wasn't any good. You can also use some of this and strap the wing on for half a day while it dries....

I actually sanded a LOT to make it fit properly. Your gonna have gaps where it bends down on top. These spoilers are made for our cars but don't fit like a glove so a little sanding in the right places will make it fit like it should. Also since mine was not fiberglass it was easier to work with but it's still a PIA to make it look even. I got rid of the gaps on the sides by sanding the bottom of the innner lip down and then the in side of each corner. Once you sand down one place it will make a gap in another but the gaps on top are easier to fill than the gaps on the sides.

Word.

I have to do the same thing as you Ab.

It fits perfectly now but I haven't got the chance to buy the adhesive yet. I'm looking for some black silicone..... Since the one which came with it was dried to ****.

Albert, do some googling on how to use fiberglass. While your kit might be tougher to sand, it will be easier to add material to it because the materials are readily available and there's tons of info on the net on how to use fiberglass.

The basics are this:

You take fiberglass cloth or matt... which is basically a bunch of tiny thin strands of glass that look like pieces of string almost... they are either weaved into a cloth, or they are pressed together in a random pattern (aka matt, chop, etc).

Then you take a two part epoxy resin chemical. You mix them together at a proper ratio, and spread it over the fiberglass material. It absorbs into the fiberglass and hardens. The resin by itself becomes hard, and the fiberglass supplements the resin (since it's so brittle)... kinda like rebar and concrete.

The epoxy cures via a chemical reaction, which creates heat.

So your question at this point is probably how to shape the fiberglass to your trunk and how to use it to fill the gap. I would need to see pics of the ducktail held in position on the car to get a sense for the shape and size of the gap.

But without a pic, I would guess the best way would be to create a fiberglass mold of the sides of your trunk, cut it to the shape of the trunk, and somehow mold it into the ducktail.

Hope that helps. Like YNVD said, fiberglass is time-consuming. You will have to practice at it to get the technique right, and you will have to use a lot of bondo and sanding to get a smooth transition between the ducktail, your filled in area, and the trunk. It won't be easy, but at least you didn't spend a lot of money on the ducktail... In the end, the time investment may not be worth it.

It's ok chris, the point is that there aren't that many modded 124s out there...when you see one your like oh *****..look at that...I bet a lot of people on the streets look at your car like that....

Let me give you one more tip. Try to fill in the gaps but never try to mold the ducktail to the car unless it's bolted on. It looks really bad when you see hondas with molded on body kits that start to come apart at the seams.

Also may I suggest fiberglass reiforced resin ( bondo type ) instead of laying cloth and resin on top of the ducktail. It's easier to work with and stronger.

Whatever you do when working with resin ALWAYS wear a mask!

I've been going to the junk yard and been removing them really really slowly....

I'm planning on new wheels and I'm getting very tempted to re-drill these for $80 bucks and paint the centers...I'm selling them but i dunno yet?

What does "re-drilling" mean, and what would it do to the wheels? They look pretty nice, what color are you going to make them?

They fill the holes with aluminum and then re drill a new bolt pattern. If the wheels have enough space for another bolt pattern then they drill another set of holes on the wheel. I want to paint the centers black but i don't know yet.

Black would look pretty sick on those wheels. Or even gun-metal?
