You can try 20x7.5 5x112 38-40mm offset on 225/30/20 tires....your car needs to be stock height and fenders rolled. Note* you won't be able to make sharp turns anymore...

yeah they will fit but the car will look so much better if u put 18's with some h&r lowering springs on it that what i did with mine and the majority of ppl who see my car think that they are 20's cause they fill up the wheel wel

Just get a skyjacker lift kit and modify it to your 124 andtrick out the whole car. Nothing like a Benz DONK to turn some heads. (if you don't know what a donk is just google it and hold on to your seat)
I got this for sale....1979 continental on 100 spokes...
I've had spinners and up to 26s before too...

I just wondering some guy had Mercedes oem 20 that I thought would look good only asking 300 dollars. Guess Ill just stick with 18

If youre talking about a specific set of wheels, we would need the offset and width of that particular set to tell you if they would fit.
And I could garuntee that you would need new tires regardless.
