lots of cars
How about you save up and buy a 190e. You can always take the bus to work and drive your car when needed. That fuel economy calc is pretty generic so im sure i'll be more than .02 a gallon. I would recommend removing any crap you have in the trunk but the seats are not that heavy so keep them. Drive 65 and you'll save more on gas. Also, keep your engine clean so you won't clog up your air filter faster. Don't use your brakes as much and don't accelerate hard. Keep looking at your economy guage and you'll get more mpg. Right now im getting about 26-28mpg on the freeway because i'm running my car a little lean.

You need to got to pick your parts when they have a 1/2 off day and get parts for your car...

the bus would cost me 2.50 each day and i would be wasting more money then i would spend the whole week on gas
yeah 15$bucks total i have used one gallon thats 5bucks

oh and i don't really fit to well in a 190E to tall in the benz i have now the seat is all the way back and at a tilt

Try removing the large nut that's loose behind the steering wheel.
It will definitely be better for the car in the long run.

Wait, so your commutation to work is only 4 miles a day, yes? Yet you drive 600 miles a week? Here's one, stop driving around aimlessly.

Rio,
You are going to have to get a new job. It is obvious that you don't want to change your driving habits, get rid of your car or spend less money. The only resolution is to make more money. I am not sure what you do for work but $700 per month puts you below the US poverty line. Either you are exegerating your circumstances, you get money from the folks or the only thing you spend money on is eating and driving. Never the less, you need to make more money. If you like driving your car so much get qa gig delivering pizza's. The reason so many people are poking fun at you is that #1 it is really easy and fun #2 we have all told you these things before so to restate the obvious is a waste of time (though I am doing it yet again) so we resort to rippin on you (in a little brother sorta way).
So to sum it up. Yo u either got spend less or make more. the equation is quite simple. you gotta make at least what you intend to spend.

Dude, that car is the energizer bunny. It would shame most MB Euro-Cabs. It has more mileage than the Space Shuttle! It has given you a good, first car run. However, continuing to throw money at it is wack.

If you truly seek advise from this site, it would be - find a way into a replacement econo car. Find a little, 4-cyl car you fit in. Save some cash and move on. I've spotted some decent drivers for under a grand. You could store LaBamba on blocks to admire for years.

As far as parties, the high desert and enjoying good food - have at it! You're a young guy. Some of these fuddy-duddys spouting Quaker practices must have forgotten their 20's.

Geez, we never had money but somehow kept a car rollin'.

well that is a good point but like i sed i dont give a dam about the price of gas i just sed i want to drive less and save up some more cash for my last repair on the motor.

i dont want a econo car i cant fit in them no joke i have my seat back all the way in the benz and can still hit my head if i sit up all the way

and i dont know where your getting the facts on a cheap car here there a grand and up and most i have test driven are much worse then the one i have

i dont see why i would sell or get rid of my benz when it runs better then most cars on the road. sorry for trying to keep a legend alive.

Best article on vehicle weight loss I have ever seen.

http://www.imperialclub.com/Articles/EBerg/index.htm

It's on an old Chrysler Imperial but the techniques apply to any car.

The picture at the bottom of page 7 takes the cake.

Seriously, you want good gas mileage? Get a Civic DX or a Smart or any other SMALL economy car. You won't be getting the mileage you desperately need out of a w124.

I don't "git" it, you are right. What are you, 6'5, 6'7? A 6'3 adult can fit comfortably in the Smart with plenty of room, so I take it you A) are a giant or B) have never seen, much less SAT, in a Smart.

Final suggestion: get a motorcycle so you can drive 600mi on a tank and not have to cry here about how expensive it is to waste gas.

yes and no i make them pay for gas. but i will never see why i should get rid of a car that runs so well but just needs a little motor work done to it. my car is not that bad it starts runs get 20-25 mpg if i drive like i am now. i should see improvement after the next few things what i want to replace.

1 Wheel Bearings all the way around 91.72$ 2end
2 Control Arm Bushing 42.40$ 3erd
3 Struts for the frount 186.96 $last
4 Shock Absorber 126.28$ last
5 brake pads 60$ 1st

thats it for my car other then rear alignment

my car just has a few dents and needs a little TLC i make about 198.75$ a week so most of the cheap stuff can be done 1st and the more costly things later. witch is what i have saved up for. oh and smog

i am 6'4
i like smart cars but id rather not buy a new car......i diss like new cars and i have no credit. not a motorcycle person i think there cool but would never own one. i just don't like new car becuz of all the stuff the put in them to make them better but if you ask me i think in 10 years most people will be complaining about the same thing gas and there car braking down on them and having costly repairs becuz to much crap is put on the cars. look at cars from 10 years ago hell even 5 years ago. hell even my friends cobalt is running like crap the trans on his has been rebuilt 3 times and to rest my case the new ones have had a new transmission and clutch put in becuz the old ones broke to much.

You know I didn't even think about that. Killing two birds with one stone. Sounds like this is the perfect plan. The 1/4 performance gains are just the icing on the cake.
