I've done it with my 300ce a bunch of times. I've used STP and prestone with no ill-effects. In fact, it does seem to help a little, if only for the extra octane they sneak in those things

We used that to help get my gas gague un-stuck on my 300ce, it worked wonders! Now my gas meter no longer jumps all over the dial. My dad also used the Lucas ATF stuff and it cured a leak in the AT of our Explorer.

lots of cars
Don't run your car low on gas and add additives. It will clog your fuel filters and your injectors. Always refill when it's at 1/4 tank left. If gas prices are hitting you hard then fill with 87 and your car will run fine with one bottle of fuel additive a week. You can add 91 octane once in a while to mix it with your cheaper gas. I use STP fuel system treatment because it's 99c at this store by my work.

+1000 for Seafoam. I put some in the tank, some in the oil, and let the engine suck some into the intake vacuum hose to clean the backside of the valves..... the best!

Be careful, too much injector cleaner/fuel system cleaner/gas treatment can damage your catalytic converter. Even though the bottle says it won't do damage it will. Every tank is excessive, I like to put some in every time I do an oil change.
