People can ask anything they like, does not mean it is worth what they are asking. Now if it actually SELLS, then that determines the value.

I am suprised your car didn't get higher bids, I have seen bone stock 300ce's sell for more, which is crazy.
I still have two offers outstanding on my w124 AMG - neither due to the auction, but from MB enthusiasts who know better not to buy on ebay. But mentally I still go back and forth on selling it. It's such a cool car and so much fun to drive. I still love those w124s after all these years.

I've seen that red SL for sale for about eight months. I never talked to the guy, so I have no idea how real it is or what he has for documentation. My impression has always been he had the work done himself, but the only reason I say that is because he wrote "$65,000 invested" which to me means he's put that money into the car, which would imply he built it. It is an automatic, rather than the 5-speed - a small downer.
If it's documented, then it's worth buying, but I'd still haggle; he's been trying to sell it forever. What kind of docs does he have?

It is an automatic.
Car is in Pittsburgh, but the owner has a vacation home on the Maryland shore close to where I reside.
We spoke for over an hour about the car and he forwarded via email full documentation and additional pix.
He's not that motivated to sell, but because he is retired and the car isn't driven much except for shows and club events, he would prefer the cash.
The $65K invested is what the original owner put into the AMG mods.
European 500SL, AMG mods done in Germany after delivery to a German MB dealer.
Doubtful you could even find the AMG wheels that are on the car...detailed down to a red stripe around the rim.
I ran it buy everyone I know including a few who were at AMG in Chicago and they confirmed it's provenance.
I'm considering it, but I just picked up a one owner, 44K miles 1994 E320 Cab from a retired woman in Florida...
My problem is with five Mercs, I'm running out of room unless I buy a second home which I am also considering...
