Those aren't bad cars! Good job on the find.
I always thought ex-cop cars were really cool.

My next car is actually going to be a crown vic and i'm murdering it out..

Tint the windows, clean up the wheels and put the chrome strip around the edge, touch-up the black, and bam. The fake cop.

Crown Vics are actually really nice, reliable cars. I bought a new 1999 and kept it for four years, I never had a single problem with it. Just changed the tires, oil and filters...real cheap to maintain. I regret the day I traded it in; should have kept it...it was a real keeper.
The company I worked with had a fleet of Taurus's and a few Crown Vic's; The Taurus's had a lot of problems with the trannies and power steering systems, but the not a single problem with the Crown Vics.
You made a good choice Rio...good luck.

the benz is down to 9mph it is dumping so much fuel now it will not start. this however get 20 city and 26 freeway i drove it 130 miles and am down to a 1/2 tank. also i had my tires slashed on the benz a few days ago and had my 260e stolen of the back so that car is going off to the pick your parts it will be missed but at lest it will help other who need parts.

It is good that you are not an attention seeker, because cars like that never get a second look. And 20mpg city in a police cruiser? Um, nice.

It looks really well kept and maintained, probably this is one of those police cruisers that never really got opened up or driven hard.

But for $2400, nice find, and now: http://www.policecruiserworld.org

-kidding-

Good luck!

Believe it or not...

Yep - the MPG numbers that Rio's reporting on the Crown Vic are consistent to what I used to get...22-24 mpg, combined city/highway.
I still can't figure out how such big cars get such excellent fuel milage

Really? In this fantasy land that is a Rio post?

20mpg while drag racing and hauling 6-8 oversized peeps is before he lightens the chasis by removing wasteful extras, like brakes, doors, windshield and radio.

I think Zorro is the one that slashed the tires and took the 260 off your trunk....just so he could keep a memento of Z.

Congratulations...keep poppin in from time to time it's fun to watch Zorro get ticked off over your posts. Have fun with the car but seriously take it to Macco as soon as you can afford the $279.00 ambassador paint special. Or you could sit by the side of the road and laugh at all the people who slam on the brakes trying not to get a ticket when they see you sitting there.

There was some talk about the sliced tires, no one knows for sure who it was but they grabbed a photo of the culprit...

well one of the requirements from the DMV was to take the car to a cop shop and have them look at it to make sure that no one would mistake it for a cop car. i am leaving it the way it is just going to add some arm rests and some new lights to the front. but not much more. if i did get it painted it would be black and white.
