20s will or will not fit w124?

I checked the fitment .pdf and it claims 18s are the largest wheels that will fit, however when doing a search on BigWheels.net they claim that 19s and 20s will fit.

Will 20s fit without modifcations?

anything over 18 and your car will look like a wannabe box unless you drop it, but here's an example of a 20 with a big drop

Of course it's going to be dropped. (I'm assuming by dropped, you mean slammed?)

Glad to know 20s will fit because I have recently decided to fix up my 95 e420 rather than buy a new car.

Even with a drop, will any fender mods be required?

It depends on the width and tire size. However, with 20" wheels, you are normally looking at wider wheels also, so most likely yes. Shouldnt be anything you cant do yourself though.

also, 20's are too big for our cars, your car will look funny, and ride and handle just as bad... 18" is plenty of rim, go through the photo gallery (start on the last page and work backwards) and you'll see what I mean...

IMO, 19's are too big. 18's are the sweet spot.

Yeah, anything over 18" and you start edging into that tasteless "Ghetto" look, (Unless you can find some 19" Mono II's ) 17-18 is the sweet spot for these cars. Keep it classy and go with some nice 17s or 18s and you will be okay, just check up on the running gear thread its stickied in this forum.

Riding 20's on a 124 i think would feel like you wrapped some rubberbands around the rims with a couple of cotton ***** for cushion. Not very comfortable.

Thanks for all the replys!

No offense intended at all, but I just asked if they would fit without mods, not if you thought they looked good or not

I understand a lot of you guys prefer the 'stock' look, but most of you guys cars look the same =/

If I'm going to put bigger rims on my w124 it's going to be 20"chromes with some skinnies.

No, I won't be panting the e420 some crazy color and lifting it up or anything ridiculous like that. I just think a nice set of 20" chromes look good is all.

Thanks for all the help! I'll be around here for a while with plenty of questions to come!

Fit is not mutually exclusive from look, Faktor.

You could fit 26" rims with a lift, donk style and that doesn't exactly look "good".

The issue with 20's is that even IF the car is lowered, no wheel gap, the car will ride 2-3inches higher off the ground.....last I checked, the W124 doesn't come in SUV format.....

I understand it will be riding a little higher than normal, and I'm fine with that.

there go our property values... our cars are already worth so little, what little prestige they have is slowly slipping away...!

Read my post again. 2-3inches is NOT a little.

Your car won't just not look good, it will look stupid.

Best of luck, though!
