AMG Monoblock II on a coupe?

I have a 94 E320 Coupe, and have rims from a 95 C36 w/ AMG monoblock II rims, which I want to put on the coupe. But the front does not clear the brake caliper. I have a W124 wagon same year w/ AMG monoblocks II and they fit fine. I thought the front of the W124s were all the same (except the 500s), coupes, sedans, and wagons. Am I wrong. I thought these rims should fit. Am I missing something here? I have searched, but have not been successful and I looked at the sticky with the PDF guide. Thanks for any input. I believe these are the rim sizes:

Front Wheels:
7.5 x 17 +35mm

Rear Wheels:
8.5 x 17 +30mm

They should fit. What tire size do you plan on running?

225/45-17 in the fronts, and 245/40-17 in the rears which is what I have on my wagon. It still puzzles me, because I think they should fit too. Unless the previous owner changes the rotors and the calipers? But they look stock.

With that offset and tire size, I would recommend rolling the fenders--Simply for safety/rubbing issues.

STL, you are focusing on the wrong fitment issue...he can clear the fenders etc, he CANT clear the CALIPERS..the brakes...

airbenz, what clearance are we talking about? Maybe a 3 or 5mm hubcentric spacer to push the wheel out slightly for clearance...the 94 coupe may have the slightly larger calipers or the previous owner did an upgrade....

Highly unusual (perhaps the brakes have been modified somewhat??). The stock wheels for the coupe were 15" and the 17" AMG wheels should fit fine.

Yeah, seems fishy...I suspect a brake upgrade has been done from a 400E or 500E perhaps...

The AMG II's I have are from a CLK 500 front offset 37mm and that clears the calipers. This is strange. Take the AMG II from your wagon and swap out a front wheel and let me know if that clears it. My hunch is there is something different to the C36 specific rim rather than something wrong with your caliper.

NOPE. I ran C36 rims on my car for winter wheels for 5 years....they FIT stock brakes.

He must have an upgrade he's not aware of....

And he confirm a brake upgrade by swapping the wheel....easy enough!

Thanks for the replies guys. I swapped the monoblocks from the wagon, and they do not fit also, so I think that the previous owner modified the brake system. I just wanted to confirm that on a stock E320 coupe or 300ce that monoblocks would fit, which I believe they would since I have seen many coupes with them. But now that presents another problem for me. Either go back to the stock setup for the brakes on the coupe or find new rims.

Find new rims that are slightly larger and keep the good brakes

The C36 uses SL600 calipers/rotors, so if the wheels clear those, they should clear just about everything else. So whether or not they have been upgraded to 400e brakes, they should still fit.

Maybe post some pictures of your brakes.

Just a shot in the dark here, but you may just have a bent dust shield. Look carefully and make sure that the wheels are not hitting the big flat piece of metal.

I was thinking the same thing, but I'll check again. The car is at the mechanics.

Yea, I know, but I really like the looks of the monblocks on the coupe. I guess I'll be looking for new rims.

Post pictures of your brakes - if you have the stock ATE set up, then there is something wrong... I had those exact wheels/tires on my 95 coupe with no issues.
