Rotten eggs smell

hi all, first time poster and visitor

since a week ago my e320 has been smelling of rotten eggs, it seems to be coming from all around the car, at first i though that i had rotten water inside a compartment, maybe inside a door, but since the smell is pretty much all around the car i dont think that is the case.

i drive this car in Tijuana, Mexico, someone told me that maybe the gas i put in it has too much sulphur..

could that be the case??

Thanks

maybe a bad O2 sensor... actually after some reading it might be the gas in your description..

when did it start. is there a specific event that triggered it. is it most noticeable at certain times. does it go away when you drove.
what have you done about it.

On one of my older cars there was a foul smell not dissimilar and it was the gearbox, It managed to pretty much explode when I was overtaking a bus on the motorway and left me with no gears whatsoever... very scary.

probably not that though....

Could be sulfur build up in the exhaust system, it happened a lot to older diesels with the high sulfur fuels we use to have, even gasoline has sulfur and it can build up over time in the cats. Just run it hard with some fuel additive and see if that helps any.

chill out.
check the air systems in the car. listen for any weird noises/clunks when your fan is on. it could have something to do with that

Check your parking brake - if you do use it they have a tendency to stick when they need replacing - causing an acrid sulphur smell. The battery could also be the culprit if it is old, though you would probably notice other symptoms.

Also, tell your girlfriend to lay off the beans & huevos rancheros for a while.

WOW

It is not your trans, or your parking brake or beans of any kind. So that you know from time to time that rotten egg smell is totally normal. The exhaust system gets some build up from and will burn it off (cheap gas can be a contributor). GM 3.8l and 3.1 powered cars are notorious for it and it will eventually go away......... Wow...Gear box...really?

Answering your questions:

does it go away when you drove [sic].
no, it does not go away when i drive, it doesn't make a diference if i'm parked or driving on the freeway.

is there a specific event that triggered it
This car used to be driven in San Diego, with US Gas, now it's burning Pemex Gas (Premium grade), at first i thought that the change of gas could be the reason, but, i've been doing some research and Pemex Gas is up to CA sulphur content requirements.

the battery is brand new actually.
