I've never seen those side panels/door caps...? I'm trying to make my interior look like that but a little different....Is it an 86?

It is a 1989 model, so it came stock with the lower door panels. It has a full AMG body kit including rocker panels and Monoblock I wheels

Look close at the cladding, it's not the stock cladding because it doesn't have the chrome strip and has that line in the middle Also, didn't the 89 come with the trunk filler panel?

Early cars, pre face lift, didn't have the chrome strip.
Don't believe the 89 had the trunk filler panel.
The lower cladding on the wide body had to be modified to match the wheel arch flare.
Could have been cut or heated to bend the panel...

Correct! Pre 1990 didn't have the chrome strips nor the trunk filler panel.

The flares on this particular car appear to have been done with a fender lip roller, which is also very good at flaring the fenders.

From the few pictures, it would seem that the majority of the flaring is near the center of the fender and not much work was put into the edges of the fender, probably wouldn't of needed much if any modifications to the bumper and/or lower body cladding in this case.

That looks like the CE that was for sale not too long ago on Ebay, if its the same, it is a 88 model and has a Mosselman twin turbo on it.

Dont forget: This Hammer was built by AMG Japan.
And AMG Japan was independent of AMG Germany.
That's why they have some otherwise looking parts.

oh sure they made some own parts.

or do you think AMG Germany manufactured parts for the Galant?

Most all of the parts are designed by AMG of Germany, AMG of Japan did flare fenders and build cars that AMG of Germany did not, the AMG 400e is a good example, but all the parts used to build that particular vehicle were readily available from AMG of Germany.

The vehicle mentioned in this thread contains no custom parts btw, they are all off the shelf AMG parts. Most all of the Japanese AMG vehicles use all the same parts at the German made AMG's, I have yet to see any "custom" parts on a Japanese AMG.

I don't know much about the Galant but my understanding was that AMG did some limited tuning on that model.

that is very very nice, all the period parts I would'nt care if it wasn't real a AMG ,it's got a 6.0 V8!!!! and looks like a 300E, put on some stock wheels and decent tyres and you've got a real sleeper, and look at those seats ! but whats the price? 661?
