Got a new set of AMG rims

Decided I wanted smaller so I can fit snow chains on the wagon.

....so look what I picked up today

I'm actually kinda digging these because its not your typical cheap ricer chrome's.
They are absolutely damn perfect. Not a scratch anywhere!! Can't believe I found these on CL and nobody snapped them up since May 15th!

What do you guys think?

(PS: I will have two sets of 18" AMG Aero II's ET47 18x8.5 and ET31 18x8 for sale. PM me if you are interested, will list in classies in a few days)

Got em for $650. The listing said tires have 60% tread, but they are actually close to bare...but I figured I can't complain the rims alone in this condition are worth that.

Yeah no rush, let me know whenever. I'll give you first dibs. I won't have them off the wagon for a few days anyway. The tires are all good on both sets.

EDIT: Oh and Rival that reminds me, you don't happen to live in Lake Forest do you? I've seen twice now this black debadged 300E with smoked rims and lowered drive by. Looks very slick! Was wondering if it happened to be you?

I was looking at the bag of stuff that he gave me (lug nuts) and I noticed that they are slightly different to the ones that I have right now. They are about the same length, but ever so slightly bigger...They don't seem to fit in my hub either. Can I use the lugs I have right now? Or I guess, can I be sure the ones he gave me were even the right lugs anyway?

Thanks! Just keep your eyes open on craiglist frequently and you'll be able to find great things.
I highly recommend www.crazedlist.org to search multiple places at once. Saves so much time and you can search every day for what you need within 5minutes.

I'm debating whether I should get 235/45/17 or even 245/45/17 to try and eliminate some more road noise and fill out the wheel arch a little better.

I gotta wash the wagon first....Hasn't been washed in over a month because of the whole tumbler fiasco. Will be shining tomorrow ready for a photo shoot

You are right though, I am not a huge fan of chrome either...but I pretty much only like this style. 260E has same style chrome Lorinsers too

The early model cars use a M12x1.5 lug bolt...later model M14x1.5.
Not sure of your shank length but the link below is for the M12x1.5 with a R14 ball seat....this is best so your wheel will have no movement.

Oh ok I see what is going on... I just saw that he had included a hubcentric ring adapter. He must have been using it to make these rims compatible with a different hub. Makes sense now. My lugs will work fine.

Def need to get wheel locks for these.

Those are 17"s? I thought they looked smaller when I first saw the thread. Hmm

Anyway, no I'm not in Lake Forest. RivCal=Riverside California. Retarded, I know.

I had 245/40/17 in the back and they were fine, and now I have 235/45 and they rub a little. I would say with 17"s, don't go any larger than 40 profile unless you have some super-rolled fenders.

I run those 17x7.5 et35 chrome Aero II's on the black Sportline with 235x45x17 tire and rolled fenders...

my Silver Cab is loaned out but runs on these same (not chrome) AERO IIs, et35 with 215x50x17 with unrolled fenders. So that is another way to get a bit more rubber into your ride, of course the lower profile looks better.

Hmm okay just wondering. Whoever's 300E it is, VERY slick. It almost looks like he has a widebody on it too or maybe 500E fenders. Just something about it -- very aggressive looking. I'd love to have my 260E looking like that one day.

--

Thanks RHW, I ran 255/40/18 before (in my sig right now), it rubbed a little but not much, so do you think 235/50/17 would work?

If they are et35, and the suspension is tight, MAYBE. But if I were buying new tires, I'd stay @225

Those rims look awesome... i cant wait to see what they look like on the wagon. Nice snag for that price/condition. Update us with some pics whenever you mount them up.

p.s. When you mount them do the rear ones first and make sure those lug nuts arent too long. I just swapped my rear lugs out for some late 80's 450 slc's lugs and they are perfect size, but of course it all depends on your dimensions. Good Luck

**edit- I hope your not riding on these in the snow!!

Yeh the fronts are too long I heard some clicking as I drove it intially. I'm gonna fix the puncture + shave off a few mm from the front lugs before I can actually run on these rims. It seems the tires have a few thousand miles left of tread...then I'll probably get something with a bigger wall to help with road noise and comfort.

Hopefully pics by Sunday

I probably wont, but I want the option just in case -- and I'm sure they'd be okay either way once I get the bigger tires....I got the 260E for my snow trekker anyways

I resolved the punctured tire ....but I'm having some big problems with clicking while moving on the rear. I tested and shaved some length of the lug nuts, but it is still doing it. I remember a while back that my parking brake shoes were broken.

This only happens on the rear right side only. The left side is fine!
...Could it be possible that the broken parking brake shoes is the reason it is clicking?
I looked at the MB CD and it looks very confusing -- Anybody here done the shoes before?

PS here's the look. Car still isn't washed though after this clicking trouble. Gonna try and open up the parking brake shoes tomorrow.
