Selling my 300e Good Price??
Up for sale is my 1986 Mercedes Benz. It is very clean and runs great for an '86. I drive this car to work which is 76 miles and I know its reliable. I change the oil every 3000 miles. I have installed a lot of new parts and will be posting them in a list. I would like to get 2000 OBO. She is detailed and ready to go.
This is a salvaged title; was not in a wreck.
New parts installed:
Computer
Radiator
OVP relay
Ac conversion (sticker on air cleaner)
Serp. Belt
Injectors
Injector seals
Idle valve
Idle valve hose (both)
Cold start inj.
Rubber piece that connects fuel flap and throttle body
Throttle body seal
Throttle body removed and cleaned
Fuel flap removed and cleaned
Fuel dist. cleaned
Wires
Spark Plugs
Cap
Radiator flushed
New thermostat
Radiator fan removed electric installed
What the car needs but not right away:
Clear coat peeling on hood (Paint????)
Front rotors turned
The odometer broke at 71000 on 06 I bought in 08 So maybe 110,000 miles on it. I have a new gauge cluster that cost 65 bucks and comes with the car.
Leaving the stereo in. Its a jvc with an aux input and already ran for an amp with a seperate sub volume.

I would make sure to get the ignition distributor cover housing if you are selling local. It can cause a lot of problems with water getting into the rotor + cap. It may sway buyers away.

Junkyards like anything that could be damaged in a collison but was not. Hard to get parts, too. Seats that are perfect. Some places have rims stacked up separately. Guys on this forum might think otherwise. I was briefly involved in the auction business. Potential buyers can't tell by a quick sweep of the lot if your smaller components work. A car that can be driven off an auction yard is a treasure. It will become a rainy day project for some mechanic's relatives or for community members in need of a low-cost vehicle. Auctions make money by charging small fees. Drive it in, wait for a check. It won't take long. It's what not-profits do with donated vehicles. That's why they say running or not. Junkyard to junkyard might be the life cycle of this very nice car you have maintained.

This isnt meant to be rude for you. but SCREW cash for clunker and our government for starting that program. Y take a car that is payed for and buy a 30,000 dollar car that saves fuel Then I will have a huge payment and a gas bill because of that. Yeah after 6 years plus interest itll be paid off. But do the math 30000 plus is ALOT of fuel. Or keep the car I got know and save lots of money
Ksing that is not meant to offend you in any way thanks for the info though.
Feel better got that off my chest

No worries, I wasn't trying to be rude either. I know most on these forums would never consider cash for clunkers. I just though it was interesting that your M103 qualifies and my M104 does not.
My wife will likely get a new car to give her 2001 Honda Accord to my son, but I am hanging in there with mine for now. She will lean toward another Accord, since the other one has been so incredibly reliable and the dealer has been great. I think she will also check the Prius, the Lexus ES, and even the Infinity sedan, but I think it would be a pretty safe bet that she will get another Accord.

Thanks for being cool If I were you I would get a good used cheap car. whatever you do don't get a hybrid. By the time you pay it off it will be ready to throw away. I have a lot of mechanic friends (true back yard mechanics) and they do not recommend them also there heavy were threw tires fast. the dealership mechanics are different story Hence stealership mech!
to bad they didnt know i get 25 mpg with that car without trying!!

I have 4 friends at work that would argue with you about the quality and durability their Prius cars. One friend just purchased a second Prius for his wife. He absolutely loves his and he really does get 50 mpg. It also has quite a bit of room, thanks to the hatchback design and the folding seats. Of course we will have to wait another 10 to 20 years or more to really test the reliability. That is if they want to compare them to our W124s. My car is cool, but 50 mpg is pretty cool too.

Well it looks like they bailed out after we made the deal wash the car and did the paper work. The mom says it doesnt have enough power. They drove it with the ac on and we live in a hilly place.
Pretty bad I can make the wheels squeal!!

The "mom" said it didn't have enough power? It seems ridiculous enough to hear someone say that your W124 doesn't have enough power, but from a mom! She must be a real pistol-totin-annie.
