Coupe Ashtray installed....much nicer
I always loved the coupe version....Well I found a practically MINT one at the junkyard the other week! Only thing was that it was off a 190E and the wood was very WIDE. Just shaved off the sides to trim it down to the w124 size and it worked wonderfully without any cracks! I was very pleased with the outcome.
Old:
Sooo much happier. It also compliments the shifter because its not a worn "brown" color. All I got left now is the main surrounding-shifter one. Its not too bad, but not perfect how I eventually want it. I got my car cover from EmpireCovers.com coming tomorrow so there is no reason why anything should ever fade in this wagon anymore. It should be mint condition for a long time. I'll do a review of the cover when I get it. It's supposed to be fitted and high quality. Paid $110 for it.

Same here on my 91 300e and my 92 500e.
I do remember the thread where someone said it was coupe specific though
I have one of those ash trays you could have had...

Anybody know anybody who does professional veneer restorations? I'd pay to get the main shifter console wood redone. It's just faded that's all...the wood itself is fine.
I tried it myself, but the clearcoat stage is incredibly difficult and without special tools I just can't get that "thick" look to it. It looks very thin.

While your at it, you need a auto dimming rear view mirror (with Homelink and a compass also)

Rik, would you be accepting "cores" for the rearview mirrors? As in, would you take my stock stalk/mirror combo back for part of the cost so you can have more donors or is that not something you're interested in?
That mirror looks damned handy, especially for when I'm doing rally.

Considering you have a perfectly good mirror, you should consider selling it on Ebay or in the classifieds. My cores come from cars where the actual mirror was broken (but the stalk is not damaged), so I get them cheap.
I also have the auto dimming mirror available without the compass, have one of each in stock ready for shipping. If you bypass Ebay, its $150 shipped to US addresses.

I changed the design of the mirror to address that problem, the ball actually sticks out further now allowing a wider range of adjustment. You will see that on Chris's mirror

2phast: I did not know it had been addressed. I will likely place an order after seeing Chris's.

Really back ordered on the compass mirrors right now, so its going to be awhile before I could provide you with one. If you want a non-compass mirror, I have one of those in stock right now.
