95 E320... looking for buy HID/projector lights.

Well before you go and flame me and telling me to search, I have been searching.

So far I have been looking around online to buy projector headlights. The headlights I have right now looking weak and I need something to brighten up the vision on the road. Some roads here dont even have street lights so something like a projector headlight kit would definitely help out.

So far, I have been seeing these.. http://store.migicar.com/hdmbw94124c.html ....

What are your thoughts on those? They seem to be all over ebay also. Does anyone have any opinions on them? Good or crap quality? I want projector headlights that actually look decent and not blinding. As far as the research that I have been doing, the bulbs have different K ratings as the higher the color changes, such as 12000K is purple...

I do have money to throw on these and I was wondering is there a company that just makes a plug and play type kit instead of retrofitting a different vehicles bulb into a different housing?

Thanks MBWORLD!

berti_00 had them on his old W124...from what I saw, they would put out crap light from the factory, him and I did retrofits of better projectors on our cars.

Berti's car in the front, mine with different projectors in the back.

I'd just retro some euro lights if I were to do it again.

What about changing the bulb on the projectors? For example, maybe a higher K bulb... Would the light emitted from it be better?

OH AND P.S. Sorry the grammar error on the topic title, Lol.

If you did your research, you would already know that Higher Kelvin only means a different color.

The brightest (lumens) output is typically around 4300k (OEMs use 5100K).

http://store.theretrofitsource.com/index.php

Go there, collect real OEM hid parts and build your own kit. Don't **** around with crap chinese **** on ebay.

Read

www.danielsternlighting.com
white papers on retrofit hid lights.
Without a proper lens you are wasting your time with hid's installed in stock buckets and lenses.
If you can install a projector unit into a bucket with the proper outer lens to work with. Great. Otherwise you are wasting your time and money.
W210 guys retro fit depos with projector lenses and hid and ballasts.
$800 plus your time for the build and looks okay hardly what you are looking for in a performance light set up.
The only after market lamps with hid favorable lenses I have seen for the w124 are from extralights but I don't think for a 95
See what stern carries in high power rally bulbs and install them in the oem lights.

Dont mean to threadjack or anything but, Zed, what lenses do you have? Did you buy them tinted or did you do that yourself?

they're the smoked ones off ebay... but i also have some of those plastic films you stick on them to protect them, and i think those were smoked too. might have ended up going overboard a bit on the smoked maybe...! i didn't want the projector to look very obvious during the day, so this is how they ended up.

So you're saying retrofitting would be the best bet? I mean, so far I have $500-600 I can throw down on this. I just figured I would look for something that is plug and play around that price. But if everyone is saying no one makes anything like that, I might as well go with a retrofit..

I mean honestly, how bad are the ones on ebay, compared to stock lighting? I have seen ones on the internet that look exactly like Zorro's headlights. They are around $500.

Zed, nice lights. And I'm diggin that grille.

Hey, Zed. The front lower bumper is the direct fit body kit, correct? How do you like it and how is the fitment? Do you like it?
Thanks.

its fiberglass, so quite delicate, but other than that no complaints... though it doesn't hang lower than the stock bumper, which i was hoping for. i have to admit, if i had to do it again, i would try to get an amg/replica front instead, i really like those, something like what zorro has on his car a few posts up

The lights you see around the internet are the same brands they sell on ebay. I wouldn't spend anything close to $500 for aftermarket lights unless it includes the retrofit. You can find the style you posted, Zorro's, or Zed's for less than $250 shipped on ebay. Which saves you money for all the other goodies you'll need to retrofit

I put those same ones on my car about 10 months ago. No problems. I bought them on ebay though. They are a little difficult to put in though, because they are a one piece light whereas the stock lights are two pieces. If you had the two pieces it would be more straightforward, just like putting in eurolights.

That being said I'm happy with these projectors. They look good and people look at the lights all the time. MB owners always ask where I got them. They look especially good just when it is getting dark , and you just drive with the parking lights on (and the city lights show - you have to hook them up though), and sometimes I add the fog lights on too. Then I notice a lot of people staring.

As for light quality, I noticed right away they were better than the Stock MB plastic ones we get here in North America. So you won't lose out. If you put in those aftermarket hyperwhite or blue bulbs you will lose light. I put in PIAA 4000K bulbs, and I noticed less visible light output. So you get a nicer look, but you get less light.

I am going to get HID's put in this month. I'm not going to retrofit, too much work, especially considering my lights are already installed. I don't want to go through and take them out again and re-install. We'll see what happens. I'll let you know.

I am considering selling my retrofitted projector headlights, the ones that Zorro has.
