That may very well be true, I answered his question only regarding when he thought it was the E39 they fit

The current way forward there is a problem with using it, I can not answer. It does not seem to be so much to the alternative if you are out coilovers

I have checked the Yellow Speed's Coilovers and was considering purchasing them. Because they do not seem to be common coilovers so feel they are not so interesting.

I've been thinking about one thing. Does anyone know how W210 coilovers would fit on 124? For the W210, there are several brands that produce D2, K-Sports, KW, yes, many companies simply. Or maby w202 would fit?

Hope it would work fairly easily, I would be able to order now for two weeks as salary come

What are you trying to achieve with coil overs?
Are you road racing or just wanting to lower it to the point where the handling suffers?

Your info says you drive a E500-1992 really a 500E...
If you have a 500E and want to diminish value then start *******izing it with parts that are not from the period.
May appeal to those that can't afford a collectible 500E, but for those that can it would be a turn off....

If you have a 500E, you must have noticed that the suspension is already lowered and well-sorted by the Mercedes
and Porsche engineers.
Some people lower them further with H&R springs and
Sport struts that still allow excellent handling and ride, even with the drop.

If you just want to slam it, then you can remove the unique suspension that gives the car its effortless character, performance, and identity.

Just "bag" it and be done.

You seem to be a fan of the AMG 124's - a "blunt instrument" compared to the 500E.

You couldn't have put it better

There are some on these forums that start with a "pedigree" and turn it into a "mutt"....not realizing the value that these cars will have in years to come.

You young guys need to look back and see how much increase in value "special" cars attain over time..
Any premerger AMG or low production number AMG, coupes, cabs and of course the 500E/E500 are the ones to own...
Forty five years ago you could have purchased a 300SL for $5000, now worth $600K...

In one way it's great for the owner who keeps it within period mods as others cull the herd with mods that not even the owner could love

I did not ask for opinions regarding how road maintenance is original or not. On my E500 will it be stock. I was thinking coilovers for my 230E

RBYCC:
I simply want to lower the car more than the usual lower kit is capable of, I've seen only up to 60mm at the most and that is simply too little
But thanks for ure opinions regaring coils on e500.

I've been having some preliminary discussion with Ohlins about a modern setup for the 124. They are suggesting to use lower spring rates, yep you read that right lower spring rates, together with some proper low speed compression damping control to keep ride height in check. Seems the 124 uses heavier spring rates and plenty of rebound damping in lieu of lower spring rates and decent low speed compression damping.

This from a very well respected Suspension Engineer, who assures me the damping control on a 124 is very crude by today’s standards. Yet to decide if it is worth pursuing this. If there are people who are genuinely interested in truly improving the 124 suspension and wish to go down the Ohlins custom made route, it might be worth expressing an interest here. It could help to justify the development cost. I warn though it will not be a cheap and cheerful exercise, the end product will be in the region of $2500 + per corner and we will have to wait till the motor racing season is over - probably April - before he has time to make a start.........

The reason that I didn't try it because the importer care enough to share 50% of it price in-case that I reject the order.
So i decided to rejected and spent my money on a reliable B8+Eibach (the bilstein spring I bought is for 4cy so I have to returned it)

Actually if we don't push it too hard the original suspension is beyond enough

I did some match and notice that the average public road radius is pretty big 1500ft-3000ft which allow us to enter it at 255km/h with 0.85g.
How many time you drive that fast?
So I move my money to a TURBO project which allow me to smoke any car except a super car in 5 sec in a straight way.
B8+Eib is enough for me
Actually when you only have a "good" suspension it make you drive slower which is safe for everybody i guess .

Thanks
I have to admit that the Eibach+Bil8 is too soft for its height and quiet annoying to drive around . I bumb my tire to the body at every steep ramp here and there and have to rise the car up a bit.

MAKE SURE YOUR CAR HAS 0 RUST IF YOU TRY E36 COIL OVERS.

I didn't think anything of a small rust spot on my shock towers when doing this. About a month later i noticed my alignment horribly off and that corner sagging considerably. Jacked the car up to inspect and that small rust spot tore in to a giant gaping hole about the size of both my fists put together. Luckily i have a welder, but it will never be 100% again.

BUT for shock mounts, i just made my own using the original ones trimmed and some plate steel welded to that with a hole drilled in the center of it. I then just used roller bearings on top of the spring so it can rotate with the steering.

FYI, your stock suspension can go this low with just cut springs...i changed to coil-overs cuz it was dragging everywhere and i busted my oil pan, twice.
