AMG 18" two piece wheels installed!
I picked these wheels up from three different sources and had the lips refinished and centers painted. These SL wheels are 18x8.5 and 18x10 and are now matched up with some 245/40/18 and 275/35/18 Pilot sports.
Not really a change in aesthetics, as its more or less the same look I have had for many years, but with the wider diamater and +25mm offset, the wheels fit the wide fenders now.

Looks good
Looks real good! did you have to use spacers? and what kind of brakes do you have on the car? i was thinking of trying the clk or slk55 brakes! do you know how much work it would be to install?

My car is a late 93, so it has the 600SL brakes in the front 500sl in the rear. I run EBC Greenstuff pads and OE brake fluid.
Personally, the 500e has excellent brakes, unless you plan on tracking your car, money might be better spent elsewhere. I don't know if these particular brakes will fit without modification, the SLK55 brakes are impressive and large, you might have clearance issues with your wheels as well.

Lookin' good!
I don't know about the chromed star in the middle though...to me, they look a little out of place I guess. A flat panel center cap without the star would look mint on those wheels. The screws chromed with the black wheel face look amazing but the star in the middle distracts from the rest of the wheel..
Otherwise..damn fine looking 500 there.

i do track the car a little. but the brakes are really for looks. i think they would look good one my car. the clearence issue shouldnt be a problem, i am running cls55 19" on the car. the brakes from the slk55 ar smaller but they do work! saw a guy at the track with them on a 1999 sl 500. they looked good. and a guy on this forum has them on a w124 body. i think its a 300e.
These wheels are from a SL600 (hence the 25mm offset) so no spacers needed

You might want to ask the ones running these what was necessary to get them installed, sometimes its a direct bolt on, other times it requires major modifications to get them installed.

What I really didn't like is the chrome lugs (my long 500e lugs) which came out and were flush with the face of the wheel. I swapped those with some lugs from my E420, they still have the chrome caps on them, but they are much shorter and are not as noticable.
Well, its less chrome in the middle than the LDR copies I just removed.

"Neilbo" has these exact wheels on his W208/55, and run them at the Nurburgring. These were the wheels on the W208/55 F1 Safety cars.

IIRC, Neilbo runs 225 and 255 tire sizes, which is fairly conservative.
There's a CLK55 cabrio with an AMG blower and Quaife running around here that is sporting 285s in the rear.
His tires don't last long lol...
