W124 Overhauled Tranny with no 4th gear ! help please

Hello guys & please accept me as a new MB brother !

You may notice from the title that i am fully desparate !

My 190E tranny wont shift to 4th gear even with a new overhaul kit "installed", there are no problems in the fluid & the filter.

my friend told me that it might be the servo valve of the k2 clutch which works on the 4th gear ?? so whats your ideas ?

I can't pass 35mph because the engine will keeep shouting which i don't want to hear ....

thanks

Is your vacuum modulator correctly set to spec?

And i forgot to tell that all of the other gears work properley (p,3,2) but when you choose (D) (it will shift normally up to 3rd... & stays on 3rd... there is no 4th)...

will the modulator cause this problem ?
( I am just asking ... because I don't know )

If you have a large vacuum leak or it is highly out of spec I would guess it is possible.

Let me see if I can dig up the specs for each transmission # It is worth a shot because it should be set to spec either way regardless.

Also have you made sure your control pressure cable (attached to throttle) is set right? Since you removed the transmission it must have been taken off so make sure it is right. If it is not right the car will just keep going up in RPM (as you mentioned) because the shift is heavily delayed.

I know yours is the 4cyl, but the principle should be the same I would guess?

you're right bro, when i choose (d) it shifts one time only between 2-3

but if i choose (2) with a very slow speed (near to zero) it will pick 1st by itself .. then i shift to (d) so it will shift normally !

and thanks for your fast responses .. i apretiate that

excuse me again ( i know that i botherd you) but if the control cable is tightend it will delay the shift between all of the gears not just 3-4 ! right ?
because it is currently shifts normally between 2-3 ,

you mentioned the modulator... can you please tell me more about it ? because i cant understand its functionality very well .. and again forgive me

Correct...it would affect all gears. It is just 4th gear then? 1-3 act totally normal?

yes it is the fourth gear only.. and i tried tonight to make it shift at full rpm.. but no responce

what things still not checked ?

again could be the modulator (because i don't know why it is used- the car has a pressure control cable connected to it so why it uses the vacuum system)?

thanks
