Most likely calipers painted red. I did it myself a few years back, relatively little effort and IMO looks nice. Body color would've been better but I only have a touch-up stick :P Hardly enough.

Yes, I think they would just look dirty in white.

Now, gold... on a White car would look awesome - like some I've seen on Porsches :-D

Grey sounds good! I was thinking of a brassier, darker gold. I've seen some on higher end, hi-perf cars, and it looks great! Just my opinion, though.

Black? As in paint??
I don't really think that would look good. It may depend on the wheels you chose, if they have black accents. It might look cheap, though.

This subject came up elsewhere, and it was suggested that the 'black chrome' look would be better, and more sophisticated-looking.
I think it can be achieved by using a translucent coating. Maybe somebody else knows more about this.

White would be sick if it was huge not stock size calipers, u want the to stand out, but considering painting the w215AMG in white with red AMG lettering I think that would look dope 6piston calis in white, they're stock color( silver) with black lettering currently, and it doesn't get dirty much, so white would'nt get that dirty that fast either in my opinion, what you guys thing about that?

There's no such thing as a low mileage W124, is there?

A testament to its build quality.

Nice 300D! What size wheels/tires you got there?
