Keep in mind that not every AMG badged car you see is built by AMG. There were many resellers that could purchase the parts and install them. So you need to perform due diligence to determine if it is indeed a AMG built vehicle.
Also, you have several different flavors of AMG built cars. 1. The regular Mercedes sent (after it was sold) to AMG to have upgrades (these upgrades would not be encoded into the VIN). 2. Mercedes that were ordered new with AMG options (options installed would be encoded into the VIN)
Since most AMG built cars were "ala cart" expect to see various configurations, from fully equipped versions to versions with just a few options.
A vehicle built by AMG of Japan should have many decals indicating this. See some attached pictures.
The UK mag "Mercedes Enthusiast" had an article on the Japan only "E400" AMG in the July 2009 issue..
It had most of the decals/stickers that you posted along with an "AMG JAPAN" sticker on the rear window.
The engine cover carried the "///AMG" logo as did the trunk lid and tail pipe tips.
The engine info sticker indicated :
"Motortyp AMG M119 E42
230KW/5750 min
425Nm/4000 min
HWA 001 584 19 38"
Translates to 308HP/313 torque almost in line with the 500E builds.
Japan did the builds on 1993-1995 face lifted W124's.
Other then Japan AMG shows no archival info on this 4.2L build !
The UK owner feels the E400 is quicker then an E500 which he also has owned...
Very rare build even for Japan
