W124 3.6L upgrade (from 300/320)
Looking for more info on the upgrade to the 3.6L I-6 motor -- have seen some SIG lines that suggest that a # of folks here have gone down this route.
###########
Looking for info on:
1) general info: cost (parts and labor), degree of complexity/difficulty
2) recommended sources: for motors / parts, shops that do this well
3) other related upgrades required (tranny, etc) and considerations (relocate battery?)
4) RESULTS... dyno, 0-60/quarter-mile and/or subjective feedback -- was it worth it ??

interested in BOTH approaches
to clarify, would like to find out more re: both (or more) approaches:
a) transplanting motor from C36
b) enlarging (bore/stroke) an existing M104 motor (I think this is how Renntech does theirs)
pros / cons / etc...

Manuel,
I tried to upload the RENNTech specs but somehow it says I already did and you notice there's none posted. They should are be the RENNTech or one of their autorized dealers website detailing the levels of mods. My 3.6 300E is so much faster compared to my wife's stock car.

Stage 2 conversion. I confirmed the motor specs with Bob Brady before I purchased the car. It is so well mannered and easily passed CA emissions - my big concern. Nice to buy from previous owner with deep pockets...
Check this link for C36 conversion. https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...c36+conversion
If the link doesn't work, search C36 conversion. He has sources and stated it cost ~$15k, not sure if that includes labor.
Both seem to be in the same price range but not sure what the performance differential would be. Faster than stock to be sure
Felix

Engine, tranny, diff, computers, and wiring from Potomac German Auto (http://www.pgauto.com Pat or Gary). It was a dismantled C36 FIA Medical Car.
Brakes from a mercedesshop member's 500E.
All other parts from Tom Hanson at Caliber Motors (MB Dealer, but at wholesale: http://www.calibermotors.com ).
Let's just say I spent about $15K in the conversion (conservative).

Realistically, look to spend around 8K for this swap ($5.5K for us and 2.5K for the mill). Additionally, we do custom spec turbo systems to make the swap even more insane. We work hard to make anything you ever wanted come to reality.
