Pics of cars w/ H&R springs

I'm in the process of acquiring a set of H&R Springs, and according to the website they're suppose to drop the car about 1.3", but I'm curious to see how they look.

Does anyone have any pics of their rides on H&R's and which pad are you using?

H&R's, #1 pads, 18" Carlsson 1/6's diamond polished (for sale by the way).

the drop with my kit is kind of overkill... had to buy another 300E for daily use (but no complaints over here)

I did, but most ppl didn't say how they lowered their rides. Some listed Nuespeed, Eibach or H&R, but most pics didn't state whilch springs were used.

I have H&Rs on my 500E with Koni adjustables up front and the stock SLS in the rear. I also have the 8mm (1bump) pads all around.

It rides fine... and was easy to do in the garage with jacks. Shoot me your e-mail...I will send you pics if you like.

Jim,
I've heard removing the stock springs is dangerous w/o special heavy duty spring compressors. How'd you do it?

Thumbs up

Don't beleive it...very easy to do on a W124 or 201. Took me a couple of hours only.

Rears you don't even need a spring compressor; just jack up car then support with stands, remove the A-arm bottom cover then place another jack under rear lower arm tightly, undo the 3 lower bolts for hub, swaybar and strut, next lower A-arm slowly with other jack. Spring will just fall out. There's not too much tension when the car is fully jacked up and suspension unloaded. Jack up lower arm to put back together; lining up the hub, swaybar and strut holes for their bolts.

Fronts are easy too: if you have the KLANN spring compressor (or similar internal screw tool), I borrowed one from a friends shop. Just undo the lower hub and shock bolts and wiggle the (fully) compressed spring out toward the rear of the car. Watch the brake lines obviously, they will need to be moved aside as the spring is rather wide.

Very easy to do in the driveway.

Actually, now that I think of it...you don't need to take apart the front arm and hub to get the spring out; I had done it because I put in new Konis along with the H&Rs.

The other E500 we did it on that day, we just fully compressed the spring down to nothing with the tool and was able to wiggle it out like I said with just the car fully jacked up (zero load and fully extended).

You'll slap whomever told you it was hard to do !!

Hard to do on the internet...lol How about sol (slaps on line)?

I do remember reading a Weltmeister instructions to use a spare tire to hold the strut assembly when removing the stock spring. The nut I loosened shot past my head with the spring force!

Wow, now I think I'll shop for springs for my wifes car. HD Bilsteins are probably good to install at the same time...

Right on...maybe this one then?

Yes, of course, it can be a dangerous job if you don't take care to unload that rear arm a bit before removing the bolts with the second jack. There is some tension left on the rear springs once unloaded , don't let me tell you there isn't any at all, but it is really not that much where it would pop out and take your head off.

Anyway, I used them Craftsman 2 ton jacks...the $30 ones, but any jack with that adjustable let down feature works well.

So, go get them knuckles dirty. Happy Happy !!
