Help I destroyed my door lock!!
I did something very stupid today, not trying to imply I never did anything stupid in my life before but this was stupider than most...
Background: The door lock cylinder on drivers side of my 95 E320 hasn't worked for past few weeks. The key fits in but won't turn at all. But the door can be locked or unlocked via the other locks on the car. So I was planning on removing the cylinder from the door, trying to play around with it and hopefully get it to work and worst case scenario switch it with the passenger one which works fine.
However I did something stupid, I don't know why I did it and now I don't know what to do. Basically I first removed the hex set screw that holds the cylinder in place. Then, I thought that I needed to remove that plastic screw or whatever it is that is in the other hole on the side of the door. However when trying to unscrew it (granted I didn't know what it was or why I was opening it) it got stripped. Here's where the really stupid thing happened. I don't know what I was thinking but I decided to drill it out. I guess I was thinking I would put in a screw extractor. But somehow I drilled the whole thing out, then a bunch of pieces fell down inside the door. I don't know exactly what that mechanism was or how it worked, but I see that the outer door handle is now no longer able to open the door at all! Apparently I destroyed the linking mechanism that does that!! Can someone please tell me what I have to do, or what I have to replace in order to make this right????
Not to mention that I still haven't figured out how to remove the door lock cylinder which is what I went to do in the first place!!! I've been told to turn the key in it to get it out, but key doesn't turn.....
Please help!!!!

My first step would be to go to mbpartsworld.com which is Mercedes of South Atlanta's parts website. You can search for a parts drawing for your door so that you can see what it was that you damaged.
Next, I would figure out exactly how to take a door mechanism apart before I cause more problems. Perhaps Youtube may have a video or Pelican Parts' website may have a DIY article.
Once you figure those things out, you can hit a junkyard or other source to look for a replacement part.
Good luck and don't sweat it too much. If you broke it, you can probably fix it and learn from the experience.

You must turn the key to remove the part that holds the barrel .It is a try and turn it job it will go .Spray it with WD40 or oil , the key as to turn to get it out of the door. But in saying that i think you will need to pull the door car off to get at the door lock .For this operation go to you tube and put in Mercedes W124 door card removal .
