Liquimoly engine oil in m103
Hey everyone not to start controversy here but I just wanted to add my 0.2 cents. I use Liquimoly lm2332 in my FBO e55 and it runs great! The engine noises went down and the car runs cooler and smoother, so I figured why not add it to my 124 for this service interval. About 1k miles ago, or roughly 5 months ago I did and I will admit, the car runs smoother and I feel as if the engine has gotten quieter on idle. I changed my spark plugs yesterday which whwre completely shot, not sure when the last owner did them but they where BAD, and they barely had any oil on them, and my car does have Leaky valve covers and rear main

I had a spark plug electrode drop into the cylinder...collapsed a lifter etc.. My tech who repaired and discovered the issue is a big fan of Liquid Moly... I must say he's made a believer out of me too. You're correct, seems to quiet things down, add protection and does as advertised.

Magnetic is marketing .
Basically Castrol has 3 quality levels .
GTX , Magnamarketing and Edge .
But then we've been here before..
10W40 semi , naaa , use 5W40 fully and enjoy the benefits .
Absolutely no reason why you couldn't use 229.5 , not expensive either with the main dealers selling genuine Mercedes oil on the bay.
There's no substitute for better oil basestock groups..
And that's why I run a MB requiring 5W30 on a VW oil that has groups III , IV and V .

From recent experience, I now only use 20-50 Touring High Tech Liqui Moly. I'm sold a believer. Won't go in to all the details, but because of a failed spark plug dropping into the cylinder and causing some lifter noise issue, after using Liqui Moly oil and additive, the car has never run smoother. I recently changed the valve cover and then changed the oil and filter. I still had a lifter pump-up issue when the car would sit. After changing the oil, first since the spark plug issue and repair, any remaining noise, click, clack or lifter noise is gone. Period. I took the advice of an independent shop here in Dallas, Auto Hans, and went with Liqui Moly and the related Anti Friction Treatment. The engine has never ran better, never quieter. I've owned it for 25 years, have 140k miles on it and live in Dallas. On a 101 degree day the engine runs cool, smooth with no issues. No more Mobile One, Royal Purple or others, I'm strictly using Liqui Moly. The results where jaw dropping in this instance. Obviously, this is just one instance...your mileage may vary.....
Needless to say, I'm a little picky and take good care of mine. So I didn't take oil selection lightly. I researched. Read and reread literature. Can't tell you why, but everything pointed to Liqui Moly 20-50...and the results paid off.

I will just leave this here for anyone with a couple hours to spare.

I personally use Amsoil products in any engine I give a **** about. Most engines will never come close to putting any oil 'to the test' but having the buffer is what its all about. This posted study gets updated regularly through the years. Oil technology has surpassed whatever your 200 HP can throw at it and my opinion is if it's clean, it will protect your engine.
