Need help understanding electrical diagram

Dear enthusiasts,

I retrofitted my recently acquired 1992 A124 with a Becker 1432 to replace an unsightly aftermarket radio installed by the previous owner.Apart from the Active Bass speakers in the doors, I managed to get the front and rear speakers to work, but I am puzzled by their connections.I identified and removed the non-original cables and reconnected the original ones to the radio unit. The colours of the cables coming from the front (dash-mounted) speakers match the description in the diagram: grey/grey-brown for the left speaker and brown/red-brown for the right speaker. However, what makes no sense to me is that the colours of the original cables to which they are connected (blue/blue-brown and white/white-brown) do not appear anywhere in the diagram. Can someone who is more adept at understanding these diagrams help me understand what I am clearly not seeing?

Many thanks,
Tempur

I do not have your year specific answer however blue and blue/white colors are reserved for radio output for the antenna. When the radio is turned on the antenna is activated to go up and vice versa.
Try to switch between casette/CD to radio and you should see the blue or blue white to go from zero volts towards 12volts.

You're right. The cable that raises and lowers the auto antenna is blue. But it is separate from the two bundles I mentioned in my message. Oddly, the blue-brown colored cable is also attached to the radio (see picture). In my ignorance, I thought this was a ground cable (there's a clip attached that will stop you from pulling the radio out of its sleeve. But ground cables are usually brown and one is already connected to the plug in the upper corner of the radio.

Thanks. I'm using the "Motorist Electrical Equipment and Wiring Diagrams" for the W124 as my source. There is no reference to VIN numbers but only to model years ("MY 1990", "As of MY 1990 (late production)", "MY 1990 (late production) to MY 1991", "As of MY 1992"). As my A124 is an early production model (February 1992) ordered by MB before official production started, identifying the right diagram is challenging. However, none of these diagrams have white/white-brown and blue/blue-brown as possible connections.

Hi, I can confirm the part number for the radio as A0028207986. I have not been able to pull the amp yet but hope to be able to do so tomorrow. The radio set is not original to the car. It's one that I received with one of my other cars, but it matches the model that the A124 was originally supplied with.

Hi again, the part number of the amplifier is 001 820 93 89. Does that make sense or do both radio and amp belong to different sets?
Thanks!

Hi, thank you for your research! I understand that the original radio in my car was a Becker 1460, not the 1430 that I currently have installed. This could explain the mismatched wiring.
I will keep an eye out for the combination you suggested, but I anticipate that it will take time and be expensive. In the meantime, the current setup works, except for the Active Bass system. Could you let me know if my current setup can be made to work with the Active Bass system, or should I wait until I have obtained the Becker 1460 radio/amp combo?
