I like Redline synthetic....got rid of the 'howl' that my 190E 2.6 and 500E once had.

OEM stuff is just fine though.

Use MB authorized only to avoid any issues.

Thumbs up

Very true...MB does recommend ONLY their stuff...

I think ALL manufacturers prefer you use their stuff, for what gain is ceratinly debatable...more probably linked to money and quality control...which shouldn't be a problem if you do your homework and choose a decent aftermarket product that has been proven to be as good if not better than OEM.

yes it was fairly simple. if you can change oil you can do this.
i took the pan off to remove some sludge and i also had a leak.
i scraped off all the RTV sealant and replaced it. Make sure you do this.
i just drove it up on some ramps to do this. it was easy to do i i feel some extra ponies that i didn't have before. i highly recommend this.
i used some Mobil 1 Fluid 85W-90 weight. NON synthetic. mercedes DOES NOT recommend using synthetic. did it along with an oil change in about an hour.

oh and FYI the mercedes differential oil is Mobil 1. same as the oil. mercedes uses Mobil Products and slaps their name on it.

I'M not sure, but if were you, talk to your stealer-ship. find out for us. most mobil products are approved by mercedes. but i wouldn't take a chance.

also on synthetic oil, i know it has been approved by mercedes to use it as
Brake Fluid
Motor Oil
and tranny oil (only on 90-93 models for some reason.)
