My guess is nobody would want it. The 96 homelink is so outdated that it doesn't work with the new openers. I still have my old one too after I replaced it with the updated visor for 98. After that the homelink module was moved inside the rear view mirror.

I switched to a 98 visor so I know that not many people will want a 96 one. If anybody needs one, I will sell if for a fraction on the dealer cost.. less than $100 shipped.

well homelink is homelink - it would seem. i have a '97, with a visor that has 3 buttons - but it's NOT homelink. it looks like the homelink module, but it doesn't have that little homelink logo and therefore doesn't support rolling codes (and therefore totally worthless to me). can you say for certain that your visor is homelink, and could open a door that uses rolling codes? if so, i'd be interested - if it's a grey visor that is.

Only the '98 visor installed buttons will open rolling code doors. The '96 and '97 visors only open the old non-rolling code openers.

The Homelink module that works on the newest openers will have a yellow LED while the older one has a red LED. 96 and 97 have the older Homelink before Homelink was it's own company. It was owned by Stanley Openers back then so it only worked with types like Stanley openers. They spun off as their own company and put the logo around the LED. The yellow LEDs were put in the ones that work with rolling codes.

Some call it "code rotating", "code hopping" or encryption instead of rolling code. The data that the remote sends out is changed and updated each time to prevent someone else from opening your door.

If HomeLink has been programmed to a non-rolling code ("fixed") device, press and hold the HomeLink button. If the indicator light remains solid, it has picked up the signal and should operate the device. If it remains a slow blink, HomeLink has not picked up the signal from the hand-held remote. Try programming the button again or choose another button to program.

If HomeLink has picked up a rolling code signal: press and hold the programmed HomeLink button. If the indicator light blinks rapidly for two seconds and turns solid, HomeLink has successfully picked up the rolling code signal. Please follow the rolling code instructions outlined in the "programming a garage door opener" section to complete the process.
