Help! Power Seat trouble '97 E320

Hi All, wondering if anyone can help me figure out what's wrong with my power seats in my 97 E320. When I push the seat switch to move the seat back it goes forward. I know the motor works backwards because when I push the memory button the seat goes back to it's usual position. This is now the case on both passenger and drivers side.

So I figure it's either the switch on the door panel or maybe it's a few bad connections in the switch itself that can be soldered back into place.

Has anyone had this problem fixed and can you describe what parts you needed and approx cost?

Wink

Did you disconnected the battery lately?
If so you have to resynchronize this and some others features in your car.
Your manual tells you how to do it.
Anyway try this:
Key in position 2 of the ignition sw.
Move seat forward and headrest down and hold the switch there for more than two seconds.
If it was desynchronized this procedure should cure it.

my 97 E has the same problem.
if you hold the seat adjuster back hard, the seat will eventually move back.
you may have to play with the adjuster (toggle it back and forth)

once the seat is back, set that position in the memory, so if you need to move it back you can.

Other things that may need to be resynchronize could be the sliding roof, and ignition key.

the problem with that is that if you put the seat all the way forward and try to resynch and it doesn't work.... then the seat is all the way forward and the memory buttons are cleared, thus leaving me with no way to get the seat back

Memory buttons are not cleared by this procedure.

I did this last night and it worked like a charm. Not only are the seats working but the window function that let's you raise or lower all windows simultaneoulsly with the remote works again too. Seat memory buttons were maintained as well.

Thanks for all the help.
