Are coilovers available for W210?
After seeing the other post regarding the spring perch rust, I was wondering if there was anything you could do to avoid driving and having that fail on you.
Do they sell coilovers for the W210? If so, doesn't that go over the strut eliminating the dependence on the spring perch? Can someone who knows more about the coilovers please give your input. Are my assumptions correct or am I way off?

A buddy of mine uses D2 Racing RS coilovers on his W210, I've yet to take his car for a test run but he's been raving about it. Hope this helps..good luck.

W210 Spring Perch Coil-over Failure
On May 30, 2011 while driving 55MPH, with my wife, 5 & 7year olds the perch failed and dropped the spring, and of course collapsed. There are no official recalls using my VIN, I'm not sure what to do.

If you
have a relationship with the mb dealer se if they will go part way on the cost to repair.
The kit is for sale with the new cup any good body shop can follow the directions and cut out the old and rivet in the new. MB dealer will direct you to such a shop.
Send a CC of the letter to the dealer to mb usa in NJ at their hq.
Wisconsin salt plays hell with those so be sure to r/r the other side as well

Thanks ALOT!!!! for the info. I'm kind of fumbling around trying to figure out what to do. I got a quote of $1500 from Concours Auto Body in Milwaukee WI. They said they'd cut out the old one, rusty body and all, and weld in an entire new piece since the area is most likely weakened by the rust as well.

Failed Spring Perch W210
What we have found is that the passenger's side is failing as well. There are no "service bulletins" on this. Anyone who has this happen must file with Larry.Long@dot.gov and file with the www.nhtsa.gov get Mercedes to recall to fix this problem. I know, I know, someone's gosta die first, and all... but Canada did a recall. Check out
