Edsoto.com W210 information CD

Just noticed that edsoto is taking down his ISO image at the
end of this month. It is full of graphics, video info on the W210
so if you have broadband, get it downloaded asap. Great FAQ
type videos such as how to remove wood paneling, removing
inside door panel, removing mirror, how the central locking
system works, removing headlights, dismantling dash, blah blah....

Get it while you can and save to CD as ISO. approx 450mb

oh my...hmm....i dont know how to answer that. but it is the standalone
version of that W210 informational/interactive thing hosted on that site.
it's great that he has made it available for so long. but yeah, it's a
honking 450mb. insofar as whether it's legally permitted to make this
so available to the masses in such fashion... i dunno. but I've not seen
this being hawked on ebay.

maybe someone else in MBWorld will know if this is a fee-based item from
MB. if so, then it's probably copyrighted. if not, and a giveaway type item,
then maybe sharing isn't so bad, copyright notwithstanding.

but having the MB produced video clips in the how-to section is great and
extremely informative to us E320 owners.

The information on the EdSoto site is the same info that MBUSA sells for $95 for the CD. I saw it the other day on their site.

The issue is whether you have a program to mount the ISO image as a drive or to create the separate files from the ISO image. I can mount the image but the videos won't play after selecting a topic. I have created separate files and again the videos won't play. I can play each individual video but then I don't have the index HTML so I have to guess what file to play. It is better than nothing but sure is a pain.

I'm not an expert in ISO files, Jim, but my guess is that the ISO format was
created incorrectly or formatted improperly on the CD. The ISO conversion
s/ware I used was one recommended/mentioned on one of the threads here.
I used it to mod/convert the file and burn onto CD. The CD then runs as
designed on both IE or Netscape on my PC. Video clips are integrated into
the browser though I can view each video separately under Media Player if
needed.

Do a Google search for "autohtml.exe"

You may also have to modify the filenames of some videos, so that instead of a *space* in the filename, you replace that *space* with %20

I have the entire CD on my drive, I can compress it and upload it as a torrent if anybody wishes?

Ditto, I just open the video file direct to full screen. I renamed them from
their cryptic file name to ones I could easily identify eg "dash remove",
"door panel remove", "central locking system" etc

The DVD that I have is the actual training film that the clips were taken from.

looks like there is a 2nd disk in the set. when you try to access traction
control features, it spawns error msg about disk 2. this is same be it
edoso or braingears. same for downloadable ISO
