New radio for 1997 E320.

I have the infamous problem of the volume knob not controlling the volume properly. I have read about places that repair the volume control. I was wondering which MB head unit I could use to upgrade the one I have. I have the factory MB CD changer that I would like to be integrated. Does the Audio 10 work with my older cd changer? I also noticed there are a couple of Audio 10 models, one with tape, one with CD. Also my car has the square din setup not like the newer ones. What would you recommend?

Happy Holidays!

Yes, the W210 radio is known to have problem with volume control, sometime it just surge out of nowhere. The place to fix it is in San Diego

They're very nice & professional. Check with them. If your radio is no longer in good condition, or cost of repair is too much, I have an extra unit (from 98 E320) for sale. It's in almost new condition, and work flawlessly.

Hello Zam2000. How much would you want for the radio? I live in Canada so by the time I pay for shipping and duty etc to send my radio down, it might be cheaper to buy yours.

Also I notice you are the lighting guru on this board. What would you recommend for my 1997 E320.

Thanks,
Steve

This is the Audio 10 CD. It is a direct swap but will not control the older 6 disk CD changer. It has an optical connection for the newer CD changer.

Do you notice any difference in sound? Do you know if the Audio 10 with the tape deck uses an optical connection for the cd changer?

Thanks,
Steve

The Audio 10 & tape deck uses optical connection for the CD changer. If you use it, and want CD changer, you will have to install the new Benz CD changer as well (one have optical interface), and install the optical cable & connector between the head unit and the changer unit.

The cable part is the one that's costly (time & labor), unless you have magic handsfrom SteveNL involved.

Is the Audio 10 the replacement for the newer models after 98?

I just took pix of the radio and the CD changer. They are from the 98 E320, should work with 96-98 W210 perfectly.

The radio is in good shape, the front is in pristine condition, with out any scratch or dent. THe volume knob is in near new condition (9.5/10), as I got a new one (knob) from manufacture right before I removed the stereo unit from my car. I've seen lot of radio unit with these radio knob full of scratch, or fade/worn out pretty bad, and mine is very much close to new condition. Came with radio code, everything work perfect. The body and back of the unit is dirty, due to my dirty hand when I worked on my car, but I don't think it's a problem. I want $130 shipped to Canada, $125 shipped to US.

I also have the CD changer as well, from same car, it's in excellent condition, no skip whatsoever, work perfect. $150 shipped (To U.S buyer only, for other countries, I'll update you shipping quote, this thing is a bit heavy) .

I'll post them in the classify section.

If you want good headlight, there are two option: get a good used OEM xenon headlight (from SteveNL or eBay), or get a Depo set and retro OEM ballast/projector/bulb. I can help you w/ this option.

Any question, email me at hhbk@yahoo.com , or PM me.
