Looks very sharp, what size are the tires on the back 275 (35,40,?) 18 Also did you had ti get spacers if so what brand???

Hey guys just encounterd a W210 issue. Our 2002 E320 has this howling sound at low speeds. I want to say from 1mph-25mph. What could this be? Engine need to e flushed or something?

A common issue for mine was light bulbs keep going out. I aways get a bulb lamp light on.

Whats up everyone. Just purchased my first E420 sport. Really excited to get it goin. other than the common problems already listed in the forums (thank you merc gurus), my motor has a a knock in it. it is louder when i cold start, but doesnt go away even after driving.
is this also a common problem? should i bail and re-sell the car?

I dont know if this is a common problem but my 97' E320 overheats alot. and my bottom radiator hose just got sliced by my power steering pump. How? i dont know.

Angry add on to the list

Let's not forget the dumb child seat sensor for the front passenger seat (isn't it illegal to put baby seats on the front?). The thing fails right after warranty is over. Most of the times it is just the wiring under the seat that brakes. Starships want >$600 to replace sensor.

Another thing that failed was the Crank position sensor (car stalls when engine hot). Another one of those sensor production quality/design flaw issues as for the MAF sensors.

I replaced the plastic molding on the botton of the windshield as the rubber on the old one was all cracked.

Dashboard cracks around passenger airbag cutout.

now it is rusting on right side rear fender. One of those punch through kind of rusting that comes from the inside and they tell me that probably a rock caused it. How? Paint is perfect, just bubling out. I haven't seen any 99 GM cars rusting like that.

climate control liquid crystal segments that die. Talk about >500 to replace.

Moral of the story.... Switching to Audi, Hyundai (yes they are much more reliable and warranty is much better, Did I say half price?), Toyota (yes they are even better), Honda and maybe even Ford.

Ive recently replaced both on mine dealer was selling a refurbished cats and carried them in stock which was about 275 a piece and there was a 150 core charge for each one. Install was quite easy but a bit hard to reach.

won't hurt to drive while you wait for the part.
Takes less than 10 minutes to replacce.

The left hand secondary cat on my old E430 rattled like marble in a tin can. I used the highly technical approach of denting it in with a heavy hammer which had the effect of squashing it slightly and stopping whatever it is inside them that comes loose from moving, didn't cost me a penny and I never heard another peep out of it in the next two years of ownership! Emissions were unaffected too with no issues at test time.

Wish I had done this I have had 3 o/s cats now and finally they have sent one that they say is 'beefed up' that just about works. Now i have to try to get my money back on the other 2. Would've been easier and cheaper to go down Mercedes Part route! Should've had the courage to 'pinch' the rattling cat as if it didn't work I would not have been any worse off!

By the way, I think the place I'm getting these cats seems to think that same cat for 320s and 430s? Is that true? Would 6 cyl have the same cat as an 8 cylinder?

'00 E430 Cruise control

I have found very little literature on the problem I am having; apparently it is very rare.

My cruise control works until about 55mph and then shuts off. It wont allow the cruise to be used until the car is shut off and restarted.

The tires are new and all the same size. New brake pedal switch. No codes, no malfunctions, no lights.

Only thing I can think of is that one or more of the wheel hubs are rusty and throwing the wheel speed sensors off enough that when I get to 55mph it is above the tolerance for unique wheel speed separation from the norm.

Any thoughts?

i have a 98 e320 and the windows will only go down. I have to stop the car and use the fob to close the windows. Any fix for this?

Did you disconnect the battery for some reason? It sounds like you need to resynchronize them. After you lower them one at a time (not using the automatic setting) keep the button depressed for 2-3 seconds. Then see if you can raise them using the switch both on the center console and each door.

Hey Guys,
I'm new to the site. I just got an E 320 it has over 255,000 miles on it. I have been pretty lucky so far. When i bought it I had to replace the third brake light, the right tail light assembly, and waiting to do the left fog light. I was told the fog light is out because he put an after market bulb in and the balast burned out? The high beam works though.

I have a rattling problem sometimes between 40-60 mph. The guy who sold it to me told me the dealer said it was the tranny mounts but my mechanic rode in it for five min. and said it was the drive coupling. The dealer list the part as the center bearing and the front and rear flex joints? has anyone experienced this?

My window motor on the drivers side is acting weird and I have to push down for it to go down. The AC brain is bad and I heard this is a common problem due to people using cleansers and it getting into the cracks.

check main Forum Page and look under STICKIES. There is a AC BLower instructional by TONY, VERY GOOD !! LOTS less than going to the STEALER to fix it.

My List of Issues ...short :)

Actually my car has been VERY VERY reliable..more so than any other car i have owned.

1. SUNROOF - not opening any longer ... motor "sounds" like it works but glass does not move at all. RIANY SEASON is upon me .. leaks a little

2. AC/Heat Blower - My controls all "look" like everythibng is functiong fine. But NO airflow at all no matter what settign its at. Basically hae to rely on incoming air from driving at speed.

3. LIGHTING - 3rd brake light wont work no matter what. changed bulbs , disco-reconnected all wiring...all other lights work fine?

4. WINDOWS - roller marks in the tint

Have my 320CDI since october 2010, so far;

- front swaybar links replaced
- regular oil and filter change (Valvoline 5w40 SYNpower 229.5)
- waterpump replaced due to leakage
- new front brake pads
- injector seal of cylinder #1 was replaced due to a leak

Current 'Mileage' 295,000 km
