Wheel Fitment - '03 E500 Sport rims on a '97 E320

Will this be a direct bolt on, or will modifications be necessary?

Thanks.

I know this is an old post but did you ever get clarification on the proper bolt for this switch. I just acquired a set of '03 sport rims and would like to put them on a '96 E320

The W211 is 14x1.5 with a bigger ball head and W210 is 12x1.5.

The tires from W211 is bigger than W210.
It will make the speedo read slower than actual speed.
But, I don't think it is a big problem.
You just need to find the right bolts.

Excuse my ignorance, but is this bolt the bolt that screws the rim onto the car? Besides the new bolt, are there any other modifications which will need to be done to make this rim fit?

Thanks

Yes, and they're called lug bolts.

You'll need 12mm (diameter) x 1.5mm (thread pitch) lug bolts with 14mm ball seats (to grab the wheel).

Besides the new bolt, are there any other modifications which will need to be done to make this rim fit?
Nope.

Lexrex is right!
Actually, I put a set of W211 16" wheels and tires on my W210 one year ago.
The only thing I need is the 12x1.5 lug bolts with with bigger ball seats.

LexRex: Thanks for clarifying the question!

Ben'z: How hard is it to find new lug bolts? Are they available from the dealer? Approximately how much does a set run?

I'm trying to sell my '03 Factory rims, but I don't want to sell them at any cost. I want to make sure it will fit the buyer's car!

I bought the the set of tires and wheels from a shop, and they got the lug bolts for me that time. Unfortunately, they closed the shop, or move to somewhere else. As I remember, the lug bolts cost about $80 for a set. I know someone use the same parking lot have W211 wheels on his/her W210. If I get chance, I will ask for you.

I'm still confused; I've posted a similar question in two forums and gotten a different response. The posts indicate that simply replacing the lug bolts isn't safe...

Any one have a absolute answer?

Thanks-

(Here was my original post)
I’m still trying to decide on a set of wheels for my ’01 E320 / W210 chassis. I found a set of AMG wheels that are 18x8 et 30 for the front and 18x9 et39 for the rear. The recommended tires would be 235/40/18 for the front and 265/35/18 for the rear.

Here’s the dilemma; the wheels are really for the newer W211 chassis but the seller tells me that these wheels fit correctly on my W210. He tells me that I would need a full set of 12mmx1.5 bolts with an R14 ball seat lug bolts.

Anyone agree or disagree with this set-up?

Here is information where lug-bolts may be purchased, though they do not have them in stock at this time. I have NOT purchased them myself as I keep getting conflicting opinions as to whether this is a safe alternative for installing W211 wheels on a W210.

I can't see why the 12x1.5 lug bolt with bigger ball sit is not safe.
If anyone knows, please explain. I will appreciate!
