couple questions

Some body stole your passenger side, front valve stem cap :p

Seriously, looking good. Have you had a chance season them yet and feel the benefits? Since the front brakes do about 70% of the braking I have never put a big brake kit on my rears, just end up replacing with a stock sized, slotted/cross drilled brembo rotor and better pads, even in my track car. But with the e-class I will probably go with big brakes all around, just wondering if the performance gains are even noticable. Also what color are the hats, black??

upon closer inspection, looks like your rear rotors are on backwards. Brembo rotors incorporate directional vains, to expell hot gases away from the rotors. Did you install the rears yourself or have someone do it. Your fronts are correct. Notice how the pattern direction of the fronts differ from the rears. your rears should mimic the fronts. Its a very comon mistake. I look for the manual on-line which should have indicated to you the direction. Not trying to bust your *****, but after 17 years of racing I have learned all these lessons the hard way. So just try to help out a fellow MB owner. Give me a sec to download the manual.

Guys sorry to hijack this thread, can you tell me whether my drilled rotors are on correct. I have attached a pic of my drivers side rear, my fronts are in the same direction. I have noticed that since I put them on with new stock pads they have been noisy as hell and squeek alot.

I don't think AMG employed directional rotors like Brembo...a bit weird but that's a sad fact.

I think it is rear driver (left) side, and the direction is not correct.

Thanks Benz.

The pic is of my rear drivers side brakes. I have stock W210 brakes with brembo drilled rotors. I am still confused. I see pics of the 03+ E55 with AMG brakes and the rotors are the same direction as mine hence I am still confused. Just to clarify my rotors should be the opposite direction as the AMG ones correct?

If you check Greg' thread of a similar setup, he has the rotors installed in the same direction as mine currently.

If they are indeed Brembo OEM replacements, then yes they are backwards. As far as the AMG units go it varies from application to application. I have seen directional and uni-directional AMG rotors. You cant just go by the cross-drilled holes. You have to look down into the side of the rotor to see the vanes. If the vanes are stright through it is a uni-directional rotor. But if the vains are curved they need to be installed such a manner that the vanes are pulling the hot gases away from the caliper. As you can see the curve of the vanes in the above Brembo diagram. I'll attach a couple of AMG pics from AMG issued cars showing the varying application.

Looks great, you could probably stop on a dime now.
I wonder what the braking feet is on the E55 compared to your brembo one, from 70 to zero.
What do u plan for your next mod?

Thanks I did get a paper and gave it to the mechanic who did my brakes. I don't think he followed it correctly. I did not even nortice since I am mechanically challenged. Unfortunately I do not have the paper anymore.

Thanks for your help.

Here is the original thread that I had started when I got my brakes done.
