Yes still running strong after all these miles. But the driver seat is getting really worn out and this is not replaceable so how do you guys normally get the seats renewed?

Another thing I noticed is that once I am cruising around 65 mph, I here and feel vibration coming from the rear of the car. It's like when you run over the metal plates in constructed road.

Sounds like a few issues ... though I am not sure they are only TRANS related. Did you get the transmission serviced / fluid changed at 60K miles? If there is hard shift, or whining before hard shift into 2nd gear when the car is not warmed up (or cold), that is the car keeping the trans in 1st gear, until the catalytic converter is warmed up. If it's slipping, then jerking or banging into gear, your trans might be slipping. Consider replacing gaskets at a minimum ... all gaskets - not just pan gasket. Other users may be able to indicate if there are bands to be replaced, or whether a rebuild is a potential culprit ... but does not seem likely at the noted mileage (unless abused).

65MPH vibration coming from the rear? Okay, it's not 4Matic (not available on 2003 E-Class). Differential?. Are your wheels out of round ... not properly balanced? Shouldn't be shocks, but the rear shocks went south on me at about 55K (your symptoms do not seem like shocks).

Final disclosure: I am not a wrench ... I only speak of my own misfortune!

I just bought it 4 months ago and have put 3K on it so far. Had to replace the ABS switch, AC blower regulator, and passenger side cat. Found an OEM cat new for cheap and installed was under $500. I love this car! Both the interior and exterior are like new and it drives like a dream. I'm looking forward to many years to come.

I took the car to MB specialist. They tested the car and took ATF sample for possible glycol contamination. I am waiting for the result now. They told me that it's the transmission and also the radiator needs to be replaced. Cost is between $5000-$6500. I called MBUSA and fight this repair so that it can be covered under post warranty program.

I'm just curious... did you buy this from a guy in so.cal? There was an ad on cars.com for a while of a car that was long gone/sold with crazy low miles, like ~40k or so IIRC. I think it was blue. Asking price was crazy low, too... like $10,900. I always wonder what the story was with that car. We call it the "snuffalupagos" car 'cause to us it never really existed!

Nope. Mine's gold and has been a Northern California car it's whole life. That sounds like it was a great deal though.

I still love this car and plan on keeping it until the wheels fall off (hopefully that will not actually happen)!

You can buy a new leather/cloth cover for the driver's seat. This is about $1000 USD.

Good job! You must be changing all of your fluids regularly! Any tips for maximizing the longevity out of the car?

TO ALL 4MATIC OWNERS...

To maximize the longevity of your vehicles, it is recommended by Mercedes-Benz that you change the differential fluids at the scheduled service intervals. 4Matic vehicles have two differentials, one for the front axle and one for the rear. Both require fluid changing.
