How many miles do you have on your E Class?
Purchased it used as a Certified Vehicle back in October 2002 with 39,000 miles on the odometer.
I really enjoy driving this car it has been very dependable and served my quite well. Still gets in excess of 23 MPG on long freeway trips.

My 1997 E420 is still going strong, the exterior and interior are immaculate. This E has been amazingly reliable, and has had the following parts replaced since I bought it in 2002 with 90,000 miles: Front upper and lower control arm bushings, tie rod ends, spark plugs, wires, alternator, 02 sensor, and a rear window regulator.
Cosmetic upgrades: Xenon projector headlights, lowered suspension with Eibach springs, genuine AMG Monoblock 3-piece 17" alloys with Michelin Pilot Sports, Wienmann cross-drilled brake rotors, tint.

Very very nice = sexcellent

Comments:
Replaced both front tires with Goodyear Eagle F1 - car came with Cooper Zeon tires that made noises exactly like bad wheel bearings. Loose light bulb in one of the front city lights - $0 fix. Other than that, the only work needed has been just an oil and filter change (with the fleece filter and correct oil). I added the factory CD changer and removed the antiquated phone system.
Car is not driven in winter as it can't get up my steep driveway once the snow hits due the the lack of a limited slip differential - disappointing winter traction. The tires are probably not suitable for winter use either, but Winter mode is no substitute for having both rear wheels driven. On the other hand, I don't want it in the road salt anyway. It's a great car in good weather.

78k Miles
running strong, no issues, though I have replaced both rear window regulators.
(Advice, don't use rear windows or use them freqently, the lack of use may be more harmful than regular use)

Instrument cluster failure on W210 is also not uncommon, but not usually a frequent repair.

Bought with 79000 in June 2008
Serviced, and changed front and rear pads, other than that the original owner took very good care of it. Such a blessing for me!!!!<><

PROBLEMS: except for the rattling secondary cats (about to be deleted) and a single window regulator, this car has no problems. . . and it's driven hard.

ONLY repair needed since buying this in 2000 w/ 35k miles is the resistor/regulator for the blower motor - terrific vehicle - average 22mpg in all types of driving.

Mileage 81500
Only driven in warm weather months - ie no snow/ice. This is fun tank to drive. Fuel economy varies between 12 and 16mpg. Control rods had to be replaced, but no other major repairs. No rust or corrosion after 21 years!
