HID/Xenon Fog Lights

Has anyone changed the H1 size bulb to an after market HID/Xenon system?
I don't mean a incandescent bulb swap or "HID look bulbs" or "xenon gas bulbs". I want a true HID/Xenon system that uses a H1 re-based HID/Xenon bulb.
I see many on E-Bay from $120-$300 I just need to know if the HID bulb will fit in a E55 / E430S round fog light.

I have used the PIAA 65W bulbs looked fantastic, but they melted my lamps in less than 2 hours , and have seen many here that have had to replace the lamps even with standard H1 55W bulbs. If I must replace the lamps I will up grade to a cooler running HID lamp, and hope for the best.

"True" HID uses a ballast and an arc discharge bulb and you'll never get the hot spot in the same place as an H1 bulb and therefore you need a new light unit/reflector.

Now, if you take the term "high intensity discharge" generically, it can apply to anything and that's what you'll find on eBay.

Finally, if all that interests you is "blue," there are lots of choices, even at Pep Boys.

Nice write-up by health services on HID installation! I was suspect on the plug-n-play kits, especially, with the possibilities of flickering issues and setting off codes as I hear so often.

Thanks Ryda,

I searched all over for information before I posted and came up empty handed. Thanks again, I now have the confidence to get the right kit and have the secret to making the HIDs work.

4 wheeled car.
I just put HID's in my round foglights on my 2000 E55 AMG. the bulb is H3. I had to bend the shield inside the foglight to fit, but it's fine.

Hi here you go http://www.carlabms.com/ I ordered 6000K HID kit for fog lights, then replaced my projector head light with Philips 6000K bulbs they mached pretty good , also did Led bulbs on my city lights very happy after all

also to make sure you need H3, take the light bulb from your fog light and see it youself that's what i did, hope it helps
