w210 E55 Wheels
Was considering putting my AMG Mono's from my E55 on my 97 E420. Wheel offset calculator shows the following
Front:
Current Wheel Specs Width: 7.5 inches- Offset 41 mm
New Wheel Specs Width 8 inches- 31 Offset mm
Results
Inner Clearance: 4mm MORE
Outer Position: EXTEND an extra 16mm
Rear
Current Wheel Specs Width 7.5 inches - 41 Offset mm
New Wheel Specs Width 9 inches - 35 Offset mm
Results
Inner Clearance: 13mm LESS
Outer Position: EXTEND an extra 25mm
With that in mind would this work?![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
I plan to have Bilstein sport shock and H&R sport springs installed.
I suppose tires would be staggered @ 235/40/18 front and 265/35/18 rear. Of course I just noticed that a 265/35/18 is not available in the General Exclaim UHP, only a 275/40/18. Tirerack says this tire will fit. Will it??
I know there are other tires but was overtaken by the amount of positive feedback on these on tireracks website. Thanks.

Has anyone tried a 245/45/18 in the front?
I currently run 245/40/18 on Carlsenn's no problem but would like a bit more profile (e 430)
Any issue?

Hello All - I have a 01 E430 with AMG E55 wheels (Front Tire is 245-40-18 and Rear tire is 275-35-18). The front tires rub (i hear it more from the driver side front tire)....the rears don't rub.
I was told to swap the front tires to 235 as the front of the E430 / E320 is not the same as the E55....in other words stay away from the 245 if the rubbing wil bother you.
here is the link to my thread (https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w210/207928-tires-rubbing.html)

It is rubbing from the inside......it only happens when the front shocks encounter a full compression due to a dip in the road.
I was told the E55 stock wheels/tires would work without any rubbing but this problem drives my better half insane

interesting. i have the E55 front on my 99 E320. the wheel well lip touches
upon deep compression and I've already rolled the lip, so I'm going to try
moving up one pad# and if that doesn't handle it (or the gap too extreme
for me), will go with narrower tire.
sounds like your rub may be that notorious nut you think?.....

you better learn her how to drive then. high speed and braking over holes and bumps like that should be avoided. full compression of the shock will kill them sooner than you think. it may also cause her to lose control over the vehicle, whether the tires rub or not.

Semikolon – I’m actually a conservative driver and don’t push the car. However the roads in NC,USA have a lot of dips (nature of the roads here). The problem I have does not have to do with my driving or the compression of the shocks but the size of the front tire. I never had this issue with the stock 17 inch tire/wheel
Per another member on this forum ‘The overall diameter of the 245-40-18's is 25'7...your cars
recommended diameter is 25'3...so your front tires are 4/10 of an inch
larger....plus the offset on the front rims is +31...that puts the tire
almost flush with the inside of the fender well....if you want to correct
the problem you need to change to a 235/40/18...the overall diameter
is 25'3...which is factory spec....plus this will correct your odometer
reading...i would stay with the 275/35/18's in the rear’

raymond g - Thanks for posting the pic. I think it might be the nut, I had my mechanic look at it and he suggested just putting on the 235's once the 245's wear out as the 245's are pretty tight on the E430
