Strange...E320 + Honking horn = Setting off alarm on passport 8500??

I just noticed this morning that when I honk my horn, it set's off the "LASER" warning on my Passport 8500....?!? what the? Does this happen to anyone else?

Scarred the shiz out of me as I was honking my horn at some douche going 50 in the left hand lane on the freeway...of course I was breezing by at 70 when this happened...

Anyone?

Did you hard wire your Passport?? If so it might be on the same 12V source as the horn. The horn use alot of current, when you honk the horn it disrupt some of the current to your radar causing it to goes off.

Same thin g happen to my K40 radar, who ever install it wired it to the parking light switch. when I turn on the parking light it goes off.

I rewire it to the 12V lighter, no more problem.

Not hardwired...just plugged into the cig lighter.

You tink a drop in voltage would still cause that?

Might be time for a new battery....

I keep my 8500 in my Denali, and mine goes off when I hit the horn too. Annoying as hell. And yes, it's hardwired, but (1) not to the horn! and (2) it does this even when using the Power Cord.

and why would you be honking your horn on the freeway because someone is parked in the left lane ? ...I understand its lame to be parked in the passing lane but why would you bring yourself to such a lower level by doing something as stupid as riding your horn? ATTENTION!.....ANYONE WHO USES A HORN FOR A NON EMERGENCY - NON LIFE THREATENING SITUATION IS A COMPLETE A$$H0LE!

Well how else am I supposed to let people know that when they are going 50 in the left hand lane, they are supposed to move over when someone is approching them from behind?

Apparently Seattle is a mecca for ****ty drivers and our DOL doesn't teach them the right things.

But I do agree with you about reserving horns for emergency use only...but come on...you never honk at lamos?

no chance...portland and seattle drivers are really lame for that .....I know I've been to both cities for years and they all do that. problem is I'm going by the old saying two wrongs don't make a right. same for sitting at a stoplight and the person in front of me takes eyes temporarily off the light I'm not going to honk. if I'm ever that busy where I have to do something like that I'd think about managing my day better. it also makes mercedes owners look bad. you should think this over next time. sound a little smarter than that. I saw someone in a mall parking lot honking at someone the other day and I wanted to walk up to the car and rip out the horn and ram it up the drivers **** canal. very uncool to me.....I guess I'm old fashion.

Hey, dumbass, when I'm in the left lane and some sh**head next to me comes over, I use my horn. That's a non-emergency and non-life threatening situation but a horn is appropriate.

Ever heard of "flash to pass" ? Signaling with your headlights is much more appropriate.

Believe me, in Seattle, that doesn't work either.
