My first car! Plz reply
Hey guys, my parents bought me a 99' E320 as shown below. Just thought i'd introduce myself to the right forum and make some friends.
About the car, i bought the car from the small dealership with 55,000 miles for 11,300 (including tax and transfer...). Was this a good deal? please let me know how you feel, thank you guys for reading!

Depends on the condition of the car, but on the surface it looks like a pretty good deal. As a comparison, in April, I bought a 45k mile 99 E320 from an MB dealership for $16k total ($14.9 price). It had new MAF, new Michelins, new front brakes and Service B, no damage and full MB service records.
Enjoy,
David

wow right on, another 99'.
i plan on getting my windows tinted pretty soon (to protect the leather from direct sunlight). That should do it for me though, as for the inside... it's in great shape; a few small things need fixing (the plastic housing around the seatbelt clamp broke off, so some super glue should work.), i'll get some more pics when it's not 100 degrees outside (orange county, ca).

congratulations. sounds as though you have a very nice car...at a very
decent price....and relatively low miles. i have had 3+ yrs experience
with my 99 so happy to help give insight if you need on repairs and
stuff. if you are considering doing your own repairs when possible, PM
me for lots of info/PDF I've saved, including TSBs, DIY, mods some
wiring and vacuum diagrams. p.s. where are you located (to get an
idea which model/version).

That's a nice first car...keep it maintained inside and out it should last you a long time. Good luck and listen to the guys/gals on the board because they have been there and done that...
My dad had a 2001 E32 and loved it...just don't spill anything near the shifter because the electrical stuff under there does not like to get wet.

Be news to me,my 99 e320 wagon is the leathertique, leather was an option(not standard) that year at least.
Now he needs to make sure his new wheels were not subject to the harmonic balancer recall or that the work was completed, inspect the mastic on the front spring perches for water and rust issues, warn him about the dealer issues with screwing the unknowing etc.
Check here before getting any work done, that way no regrets after the fact....

Get the
Mercedes service records and make sure if your chassis number was involved in the balancer recall that it was done.Have the import place look for the rusty spring perches, they can't be seen from a casual look, the factory mastic, covers the area of concern.Other than those major issues if they check out ,you got a better then average deal from a dealer, mine was $9500 for a e320 wagon, but i bought private party. If Dad and Mom bought it for you,I suspect you're still young?Respect the power and handling she is capable of,and please don't join the ranks of zo6 and skippinschool and the like who think that because the car is capable of 138mph,they need to recklessly examine the issue every time they hit the road.

The E320 should come with "Premium leather upholstery."

congrats on the car and take good care of it. My 97 E320 was bought a year ago at around $14.5K. The car was purchased initially at 128k KMs and now after a year and a half and 161k KMs the only thing that let me down was a passenger rear window regulator and a voltage regulator. Other than that the car was been running strong and smooth like a champ (give or take a few scratches and paint chips but not a real biggy)
what's the secret to keeping a W210 in tip-top condition?? Well for one you got to change the oil regularly (I recommend Mobil1 5w-40 synthetic oil), check the water level, flush the radiator once a while, get the filters replaced, check the tires and DRIVE IT (when I mean drive it I mean 140Km highway runs) to give the engine a good working.
which reminds me better check out that high-speed vibration could be an alignment issue (a lil help would be great)

I also had a question regarding the front lights. I want to put in some nice projectors (off of ebay), but then again i want to also put in HIDs (6000k), are these two products compatable?
Thanks for the read.
